The First Spark [Tetsuji | Invite Only]

Post by Kyoshi on Thu Nov 09, 2017 11:05 am

Fire.

There was fire everywhere. Its flames leaped higher than buildings and through the village streets. The roar of the conflagrations was so cacophonous that the screams of the innocents burning away in the blaze was merely a din in the background. Shouts of pain, fear, and cries for help echoed around the village; all hope seemed lost. But then, as if the sun slowly began to rise over on of the burning buildings, a light could be seen dawn atop the structure. The bystanders looked on, confused and scared at what they could be seeing. But they had no need to fear this new light. For as they’re eyes adjusted, they were able to see standing there for all to see, a young man. His clothes in tatters but his skin untouched by the blaze surrounding him. Over his shoulder he held a woman whom he had rescued. And as he stood there triumphantly, he called out so loud that his voice boomed over the roar of the fire. “Don’t be afraid! My name is Kyoshi Sarutobi, and I will save you all!!” The young man then jumped from the building picking up citizen after citizen. Men, women, and children were all rescued, one after another in an incredible display of this young man’s strength and speed. Truly, he must be one of the greatest shinobi to ever live. And as he stood before the crowds of people that he had saved, they all called out to him, praising his great deeds and incredible power.

“KYOSHI! KYOSHI! KYOSHI! KYOSHI!....”

“Kyoshi? Koyshi. KYOSHI!”

Kyoshi Sarutobi bolted awake, sitting straight up in his chair as the sensei at the front of the academy classroom. The man did not seem impressed, considering he had to walk all the way to the back of the classroom to wake up Kyoshi in the first place. The young Sarutobi stared up at him for a moment before a sheepish grin spread across his face. “Um…er…yes, Sensei?” The teacher’s furrowed brow was a clear indication of his annoyance, but nevertheless it seemed he would give Kyoshi a chance. Glancing down at the book he held in is hand, the chuunin teacher let out a sigh. “I asked you, in what year was Kirigakure no Sato formed in the Land of Water in relation to the Warring Sates Period? It’s a fairly simple question, for anyone who did their homework.” The emphasis on the latter half of the sentence was not lost on Kyoshi, who simply chuckled and shrugged. “Um…four?” He replied with little to no confidence whatsoever. By his teacher’s unimpressed frown, as well as the laughing of most of the class, Kyoshi knew that he was wrong. He opened his mouth to say something but was cut off by the teacher. “I don’t want to hear it Kyoshi. I understand that you have some natural talent for practical things, but that does not excuse you form learning this stuff. It is more important than you know.”

Shaking his head, the teacher walked back to the front of the classroom. Despite the fact that Kyoshi thought learning history was useless, he was still embarrassed by the turn of events. He was a Sarutobi, and there was a certain level of…behavior that was expected of him thanks to that. His name was a famous one, and he had to make sure he lived up to it. But once again he had allowed his fantasies to distract him from his studies, and in turn had probably made a few people lose respect for him. He had to correct that. For the rest of the class, Kyoshi remained silent but attentive, doing his best to follow along with the history lessons being taught. It was boring, that much was certain, and just as Kyoshi began to drift off once again, the teacher said something that made him perk up.

“All right class, time to move out into the training yard. It’s time for sparring.” Kyoshi’s eyes lit up as he jumped form his chair. “Finally!” Before too long, most of the class had begun to make their way to the door and through the hallways into the courtyard. It was a beautiful day outside, and the warmth of the sunshine only heightened Kyoshi’s excitement. They very rarely got to spar in their class, since the teachers were wary of people being hurt. But he had come very far since the last time sparring was arranged in the class, and he was ready to be put up against any one of the classmates. As they finally arrived at the training field, the class arranged themselves into a half circle to await the names that would be called. Kyoshi stood quietly, his fingers crossed and a huge smile plastered onto his face. He was ready to fight!

“Now let’s see…” the instructor said with a smile. “Who will our first match up be…”

Classroom disturbances were always as they were, disturbances. Tetsuji could never claim innocence from them but his were... few and far between for the most part and even beyond that he didn't take much time to really even recognize them. Still, Tetsuji watched as his sensei walked up the rows of desks and approached a not-so-quietly sleeping boy and began to question him. Tetsuji had been scribbling away notes but listened carefully as the question was asked, the answer immediately popping into his head as he listened to him bumble about the incorrect answer.

That was the end of it though, as some students would linger about or even laugh at his answer, Tetsuji's eyes calmly followed the sensei back to the front of the room as he continued about his lecture and carried on with the lesson, a short and brief history of the founding of the major villages and the details about them. It wasn't excessively long as with a few details of the Village Hidden in the Mist and they only had the Stone and the Cloud to cover after that and even then, there really wasn't much to know about their villages at the time.

With the lesson over, the sensei turned back to the class and spoke up, "All right class, time to move out into the training yard. It’s time for sparring." the words rang out and a few bright faces popped up and others fell sullen as they realized what that actually meant. Tetsuji held quietly though, closed his book and slid his items in his bag to leave at his desk in the room and calmly rose from his chair as the rest of the class began to shuffle outward. Tetsuji followed outward with his standard level of enthusiasm being calm and collected but strangely enough he felt a small touch of excitement as it wasn't a common thing to spar any of the other students directly and he held a winning record against the other academy students.

If anything, it was a chance to let loose and show the skills he'd learned and bring a bit of pride to his clan, to match up himself against the others of his own classroom. The trip down the hallways kept uneventful as Tetsuji held his hands to his pocket and shuffled his feet outwards towards the back of the class. His attention was so passive in the moment, mentally prepping himself to fight and trying to loosen himself up as well as bring his mood from calm to focused.

Arriving at the training ground, Tetsuji's apathy had led him to one thing, and that was incidentally pushing towards the front of the group before looking up at the scene before him. Their sensei was smiling and looking around the group of students for the first match up of the day, Tetsuji's eyes falling right on him and would make eye contact if he turned to the little Uchiha. A small psychology that might end up betraying him and making him the first one to go but that didn't matter, he felt mentally loose enough and didn't really fear taking anyone in their class on. Aside from that, none of them really had any skills that were worth worrying over in any form, so Tetsuji would stand for a moment before removing his glare, waiting for the news on whether he would be subject to spar first or not.

The words were still leaving the instructor’s lips, but Kyoshi could hardly contain his excitement. Sparring was something that he felt pretty adept at, and getting to practice against people that would go all out rather than his clan mates who would go easy on him because of his age was something he did not want to miss out on. Not only that, but Kyoshi wanted a worthy opponent that would push him. He knew of a couple of kids in the class that would put up a good fight, but the odds were against him getting to fight one of those few. Even so, when he saw the teacher locking eyes with another one of his classmates, Tetsuji Uchiha, Kyoshi knew that the first fight would probably involve the raven haired boy. He was certainly one of the worthy opponents that Kyoshi had in mind, considering his name alone was a famous one.

The Uchiha were one of the two founding cans of the village that Kyoshi loved so much. But not only were they old, they were powerful. The bloodline trait of their clan was renown around the world, and though Kyoshi had never seen the legendary dojutsu, the Sharingan, in action, he had heard tales of it from his father and other clan members who had fought against it in the time of the Warring States Period. The young Sarutobi had no idea whether or not Tetsuji had access to such a powerful technique, but he certainly wanted to find out. Unsurprisingly, the instructor first pointed to Tetsuji can called out to him, motioning for him to move to one side of the sparring area. Not long after, the instructor looked down at his list and furrowed brow for a moment before sighing and calling the net name. “And Kyoshi Sarutobi, you’re up too.”

“Alright!” Kyoshi pumped a fist in the air with excitement as he ran over to his side of the training area. As soon as he stopped, he pointed his finger toward Tetsuji and smiled. “Alright Tetsuji! Don’t you dare hold back because I won’t be; not one bit!!” The sensei quickly cleared his throat before Kyoshi could keep talking. “Now as you both should know, Shinobi Sparring is an honorable tradition that as been around for as long as shinobi have existed. Now that the clans work together in the Hidden Villages, the importance of those traditions is amplified even more. So Kyoshi, instead of pointing at Tetsuji, why don’t you both make this one handed seal, signifying your intention to fight.” The teacher raised his right hand and formed what seemed to be a half of a tiger seal. “This is the sign of confrontation. Once the battle is cover, you two will link your fingers in the sign of unity. This is to show that although you come from different paths and clans, you are both shinobi that will fight together for the village.”

Kyoshi nodded slowly as he listened. Though it was somewhat of a history lesson, the young Sarutobi could understand the importance of it. The Will of Fire dictated that all members of the village are to be cherished and honoured, no matter what clan they come from or what they do in their day to day lives. That bond that was formed between all of the villagers is what made Konoha so strong, and so if these simple hand signs were a reflection of that, Kyoshi would follow the instructions to the letter. And so Kyoshi, still smiling, raised his right hand into the Sign of Confrontation and waited for Tetsuji to do the same. Their fight would begin soon, and Kyoshi would not lose.

Re: The First Spark [Tetsuji | Invite Only]

Post by Tetsuji on Tue Nov 14, 2017 4:29 pm

A small sigh carried in Tetsuji's throat as he was called up first to begin their spar. It wasn't anything to do with him being ready to compete or anything of that sort, it was just merely a reaction that struck him at the time. He felt ready but none of his sort-of ritualistic steps he could follow through before his fight, like his father and grandfather had taught, instilled, into him as soon as they could. As he stepped forward and moved to one side of his sensei to take his place away from the group he began to think through it on his own.

Two starts to any fight. Attack, or be attacked. You should attack first, set the tone of the fight and the pace, catch them off guard early, don't leave any openings. Don't waste any movement, don't think too hard, don't... Tetsuji's cadence quickly rattled off in his mind and continued as he waited calmly and their sensei called up his opponent, Kyoshi Sarutobi. Another student of his class and one who far preferred these practical types of training and the same student who was sleeping away to interrupt class as well. None of that really mattered to Tetsuji who stood at the ready as more was crossing into his mind, running around thoroughly and sending him for a loop of indirect direction for his spar.

His musing was interrupted though as Kyoshi took his spot across and spoke up, Tetsuji's eyes sort of lighting up as his attention would turn towards the boy making known he wouldn't hold back. It was something to speak of for Tetsuji, as he wondered briefly about what he meant by that, what sort of trick he might have up his sleeve for their spar? He'd have to be more cautious, his aggression would have to be controlled and calculated like it always was but even more so now. Don't waste any movements. The rule he was being drilled to abide by most recently stuck out now that his opponent made the indirect threat. He'd have to be at his best and though he wouldn't hold back before, he'd prepare himself to go all out this time purely for the sake of not getting caught off guard.

Their sensei continued to rattle off notes about the ceremony of their spar, instructing them to form a Sign of Confrontation and one after their fight as well. None of that bothered or concerned Tetsuji except the words he chose, "even though you're from different clans"... The words sat in his mind for a moment as he wondered if he meant anything by it. If they were truly from the same village then shouldn't they ignore those bindings? Or maybe he understood like the Uchiha adults Tetsuji had been learning from, that the village didn't actually unify them and only led to the mirage of such.

It didn't matter right now, Tetsuji had another matter to deal with. Tetsuji would nod to Kyoshi as a small indication and bring his right hand up to form the same sign as he did, waiting anxiously for their fight to begin. The moment they would receive the signal to begin would be it, Tetsuji would blast off the starting point and let his arms fall to his sides as he would carry himself meticulously in a rush at Kyoshi.

His dash forwards wouldn't have to cover a great distance but once he found himself within the appropriate range to move he would plant his left foot into the ground from the ball of his foot and rotate backwards slightly while powering the muscles in his thigh and back and turning his head around to sight Kyoshi again. With the motion, he would let his right leg move into the air and in that full body rotation would spin backwards to deliver a straight legged kick towards Kyoshi's head to start off their fight. At the same time, Tetsuji's body would rotate and his right arm would stay at his side to block a potential counter to his side while his left arm stayed free and ready to move. Not a single movement wasted. The mantra in his head as he started to plan out his steps and the various courses of action he could take.

Tetsuji knew he was weak so he would have to strike with the hardest points of his body, knowing that his kick would do two things if he could send it off, even if Kyoshi dodged it or blocked it. First, it would let him make the first move and take control of the aggression, at the very least he would be on the defensive immediately to respond to it and second, it would be a very interesting way to set the tone and start their fight off going straight to a spinning back round kick.

To say that his would-be opponent seemed unenthusiastic at first would be an understatement. The sigh that he had let out when his name was first called was a little bit discouraging to the young Sarutobi. Though Tetsuji seemed to have paid attention to Kyoshi’s words, he did not respond in any way that would lead the academy student to believe that the young Uchiha was any more interested in their bout. Even so, Kyoshi did not intend to let his guard down in front of everyone. If Tetsuji managed to get the better of him with all of these people watching, Kyoshi wanted to make sure he was at least trying his best in order to do so. The build up for the fight continued, and Kyoshi was was beginning to get restless when finally, as if he had known that the Sarutobi had been waiting for it, Tetsuji Uchiha nodded to Kyoshi and also raised his right hand to make the proper hand seal.

Within moments of that, the sensei gave the signal that the fight could begin, and in that moment Kyoshi realized that it was a good thing that he did not let his guard down. Tetsuji blasted toward him, the Uchiha’s arms dropping to his sides as the distance between the pair disappeared with each step that Tetsuji took. Deciding that a defensive response would be best, Kyoshi shifted his right foot back and bent at his knees, raising himself up onto the balls of his feet so that the oncoming attack would not force him backwards, but he would be able to move quickly if he needed to. His left arm was raised over his left leg, his palm open and facing his own body. Similarly, his right hand was open as well, though it sat in front of his stomach, with his body turned so as to make himself a smaller target. He had learned a great deal from his family and friends in his clan, and he was not going to let that knowledge go to waste.

Just as Kyoshi got into position, Tetsuji had reached him and was already planting his left foot. He followed up by spinning into a back round kick that was aimed straight for Kyoshi’s head. It was an aggressive opening to be sure, but Kyoshi was ready for it. Raising his right hand from its resting position, Kyoshi would block the oncoming strike in the nick of time, stopping it in its path and allowing for the Sarutobi to go on a momentary offensive. Kyoshi knew that every hit would count in the fight, so he did not think twice about his attack. While still blocking the kick, Kyosho would shift this weight forward on the balls of his feet and attempt to strike out with his left hand, bringing it across his body and striking at the side of Tetsuji’s right knee. It probably would not do much damage, but Kyoshi’s hope was to force the by off balance so that he could follow up. Whether or not he was able to accomplish his goal, Kyoshi would then shift his weight onto his front leg, bringing up his right leg into a kick at Tetsuji’s abdomen, the strike accompanied by a grunt of satisfaction from the young Sarutobi.

Kyoshi knew he was not the strongest person in his class, but he also knew that if he could wear out Tetsuji, then he would be able to pull through and win the fight. It might take some time, but Kyoshi was determined to beat the young Uchiha. He would not go down without a fight.

Re: The First Spark [Tetsuji | Invite Only]

Post by Tetsuji on Mon Nov 20, 2017 10:59 am

Tetsuji's foot flew into the air on target but was met by equally quick movement from his opponent who threw his arm up to absorb the shock of the kick and block his momentum. Tetsuji's foot and leg stayed loose as his spin had ground to a halt. Their battle had begun and started out with a bit of intensity, the rest of the class who was marked in the area around them had faded out and the only focus was on his opponent. Even his own sensei was no longer a factor, even if he could step in at any moment, there was one goal for Tetsuji and that was his next step. The next step and the ones that came after that.

His leg had stopped from the block of the blow and a bit of space would separate from his own leg and Kyoshi's arm as the instant after the attack they would each be planning their own move and subsequent moves from there. It was in that briefest of moments that Tetsuji knew he had to act and had only one goal in mind, to prevent his leg from getting caught, grabbed, or even used by his enemy before he could regain his balance and shift back to the attack. It would be paramount in the milliseconds after his kick landed that he dug into the balls of his left foot still on the ground and quickly reverse his momentum and bring his leg to the ground. In the same spin move done in reverse, Tetsuji would bring his leg around himself and twist his torso back the other way with an arm down to protect his stomach and chest as his head turned and re-targeted his opponent who was mid-punch and having aimed for Tetsuji's open leg.

It wouldn't be just a moment after that his leg was down to the ground and his stance was brought to par, knees bent and sat on the balls of his feet again. His left hand was across his body and his right hand was in a fist at his side. Instantaneously, Tetsuji knew that he was too close, he needed to create space and jump back a bit but he didn't have the speed advantage for it in any form. It was as Kyoshi had transitioned back and turned his body back to Tetsuji to strike again that he knew he was caught out.

It was a stretch but Tetsuji knew that he had to go strike for strike, so he did just that, letting his left arm move up to protect his chest and head and sacrificing his body to Kyoshi's blow as he offered a counter in the moment. Bringing his right arm up, he would let the kick supplant into his abdomen and most likely knock the breath out of him for a second and leave a heavy mark of fatigue against him as he would find it hard to control his composure, if Kyoshi kept his course of action to deliver the kick anyways.

In response with his right hand, Tetsuji would bring up the fist from his side as quickly as he could with as much power as he could muster in the short gap and with a heavy lean inwards, he would try to close the gap from his punch and aim right for Kyoshi's cheek to go blow for blow between the two of them. With this move, it would suggest that their fight was one less of finesse and grace between each strike and subsequent counter to one that would be decided by who could deliver and take more damage from whom. Though, with how weak Tetsuji was, he was going to have to find a more suitable course of action, knowing he can't continuously take hits to his body over and over again.

Though he thought that his strike out at the Uchiha’s extended leg was certain to connect and cause even a little bit of pain, Kyoshi was surprised when his attack met only thin air. The lack of contact threw him off balance for a moment, and by the time he was able to recover, his sparring partner had already regained a defensive position. It was frustrating, knowing that his next attack would probably be blocked as well, but even so, he knew he needed to remain on the offensive if he was going to have a chance at winning this fight. Tetsuji had demonstrated many times in class and in other practical exams that if he was given a second to plan, he could get the advantage. With that thought in mind, Kyoshi planted his front foot as planned and launched out his kick into Tetsuji’s side.

This time, he expected Tetsuji to block as Kyoshi had dine just moments earlier, and though the young Sarutobi was not entirely wrong, he did not account for the young Uchiha’s willingness to sacrifice his body for an advantage, no matter how small. Kyoshi’s leg struck out, and as it did he watched with surprise as Tetsuji offered up his abdomen for an open strike. The kick landed, and Kyoshi was sure that he had at least winded his peer. His foot sunk into the opening that had been gifted to him, and though he felt a momentary thrill of the small victory, it was quickly replaced by the moment that he had figured was on its way. Matching him strike for strike, Tetsuji brought up his right fist quickly, leaving Kyoshi only a moment so glace towards it before the gap between his face and his opponent’s fist disappeared and the strike landed cleanly on his face.

Between the force that was behind the Uchiha’s punch and the fact that Kyoshi was still only on one foot thanks to his kick, he could not help but stumble back slightly. He would have fallen were it not for the fact that Tetsuji had taken a serious hit as well, which is why Kyoshi figured he was able to pull his leg back and plant it on the ground stopping him from toppling onto his back. Even so, he was rattled for a moment, and hoped that Tetsuji felt at east as much pain as he did in that moment. Not wanted to give him too much of an opportunity though, Kyoshi blinked hard for a moment before refocusing back on his classmate. Instead of being taken advantage of after that hit, Kyoshi once again remained on the offensive.

The distance between the pair had not expanded very much, and the young Sarutobi wanted to use that to his advantage. He now knew that Tetsuji would take any chance he could to go blow for blow with him, and at that rate, the pair of them could collapse before one of them won the fight outright. Kyoshi could not have that, and so he chose to take a bit of a gamble. Taking one large step forward with his right leg, the Sarutobi began moving as fast as possible. Kyoshi would then bend that knee all the way so that his body was close to the ground. He then would raise his left arm to protect his face, while also planting his right hand onto the ground, bent at the elbow to keep himself low. In this low position, he would raise his left leg and coil it as close to his chest as possible before letting it fly into an upward kick toward Tetsuji’s chin while simultaneously pushing off of the ground with both his right arm and leg.

All of his power was behind that strike, and hit Tetsuji was able to dodge it, then it would leave the young Sarutobi wide open. But he had to take the chance if he was ever going to beat the young Uchiha. Kyoshi could not hold back the smile on his face while he let the kick fly.

Re: The First Spark [Tetsuji | Invite Only]

Post by Tetsuji on Wed Nov 29, 2017 5:00 pm

The blow to Tetsuji's stomach wasn't extreme by any measure, he'd taken worse hits of more force before and he'd taken weaker hits. Hell, even sparring with his father on so many conditions had trained him to some degree of understanding just what pain truly felt like but this kick was special. Special in where it was placed, intentional or not, it caught Tetsuji just a measure above his kidney, pressing in with force and almost pinching the contents within his stomach and side. The hit itself was dull and with force like a normal kick but the pain felt sharp, almost made him draw back on his punch a tad as he planted it right towards Kyoshi's chin.

It was in that instance that the pain began to subside his awareness of his own body, sharp pain expanded and pressed itself all about him, after his punch landed he was already stepping back and his left arm going to his side as his body hunched over in an exasperated and winded breath. He needed more training, he needed to hone himself, in that brief instant he counted at least four wasted movements because of the pain his own body felt. He knew that father would be furious if he'd seen this or been watching it somehow. He could hear the words as the pride of the Uchiha clan and who he touted to be the next greatest in their lineage was being beaten up by some other kid in some nothing clan of Konoha. That mental pain began to berate him more than his own physical pain and he caught his moment of mental weakness as his foot stopped. He pressed his weight into his foot and stopped it right into the ground where he was retreating back, but still hunched over as his eyes flickered up towards Kyoshi who was already in a step forward at him.

More wasted movements and time, his own incessant worrying was playing against him severely and now he had a much greater problem to deal with. Tetsuji would begin to bring himself up as he would begin to bring his hands out towards his chest and together in front of him. Quickly, and with some panic he would begin to weave together the hand signs, starting with Snake.

Kyoshi had closed the gap and his eyes traced the pattern as he almost slid underneath Tetsuji's person and began to recoil his leg. Ram.

Tetsuji was still bent forwards and his eyes traced back up as his body bent at the knee to try jumping backwards at what he knew was coming. His eyes still followed the quickly moving shape below him as he formed another hand seal. Monkey.

Contact was made against his chin, heavier than the last kick and even with the force of his body fighting against gravity to deliver the blow, Tetsuji felt it immediately. Felt his jaw close and his teeth clank together, just barely missing his tongue by centimeters but still feeling blood flow in his mouth. A dull taste with a hint of iron and pain mixed into the liquid. Probably biting his cheek and tearing into a bit, he felt his head shoot upwards with the kick and hesitate a bit as his body went from hunched over to beginning to lift off the ground. His hands were undone from their motion and moving up to defend his face far too late, only looking to stop any concurrent attacks after that.

Tetsuji hadn't necessarily planned it out or anything of that sort, but in the moment of the kick he knew he had another opportunity to think. He'd already began to jump backwards so he knew immediately to combine the momentum of the two. In doing so, he let his body leave the ground and rotated his knees to his chest as he leaned back and in a jolted motion began to flip backwards from the impact of the kick.

It wouldn't be much, he didn't get nearly enough hand seals out to scare him with his fireball technique. Even though, it'd never worked before he thought maybe he could scare him for a moment, make him rethink his actions and maybe even get inside his opponents head for the rest of the fight. That would be yet to be seen of course, but still, Tetsuji had decisions to make and a spar to finish as he was quickly hurtling to the ground. His options limited, and if Kyoshi kept up like he had been, then Tetsuji knew he needed to land on the defensive and find his opening. It was his only real choice unless he wanted to try going blow-for-blow again.

Tetsuji's landing was less than graceful beyond that, landing just in front of the balls of his feet, he immediately shrunk under the impact of his own weight and his right foot slid back quickly to balance himself. His arms were brought up and his eyes immediately trained forward to prepare for whatever instant attack might be coming his way or whatever soon-to-be attack might be en route. His hands tightened and he felt it reeling in his fingertips and his knees kept bent as his right leg sat behind him. His eyes focused ahead to scope out his next move and take advantage of Kyoshi's either quick-action style of fighting or if he would pause and wait to make his move after he knew what was coming his way.

With each step forward, Kyoshi watched in confusion as his sparring partner began to weave together hand seals. First came the snake, then the ram, and as Kyoshi unleashed his kick, he could have sworn he saw the money seal being weaved together with Tetsuji’s hands. The young Sarutobi had no idea what the Uchiha was planning, but for the briefest of moments, he worried that perhaps he was falling victim to something he had not anticipated at first: genjutsu. He had heard the tales of the Uchiha clan and their uncanny genjutsu prowess, but for an academy student to be able to fool him in a straight up fight seemed like it would be far beyond his capabilities. Even so, Kyoshi could not deny that he felt slightly shaken for a moment. However, that moment only lasted until his foot connected with Tetsuji’s chin.

Kyoshi had said that he would not hold back at all at the beginning of the match, but when he felt just how solidly his kick connected with his friend’s face, he felt a pang of guilt for not pulling back even just slightly. The sound of Tetsuji’s teeth slamming together was audible, and Kyoshi’s eyes went wide hoping that he had not caused the boy to bite off his own tongue. Judging by the fact that he did not see copious amounts of blood flood out form his moth, Kyoshi relaxed slightly know he did not accidentally kill his peer. Tetsuji’s boy flew from the ground, and Kyoshi took that chance to stand back up and figure out where Tetsuji would land exactly. He hoped that he would be able to intercept the fall and land a punch on him mid air, but his hoped were shot down when he saw the young Uchiha pulling his knees into his chest and going into a back flip of sorts. It seemed that the blow did not phase him too much, which surprised the boy given how much force he had put behind that kick.

Seeing this, Kyoshi knew he could not let up his ongoing assault. Sooner or later he would need to take a breather, but for now, he had to tire out Tetsuji at least as much as he was tiring himself out. He took the briefest of moments to approximate when his peer would land on his feet, and before the Uchiha was even upright again, Kyoshi was running toward him with the intention of punching him in the stomach to throw him off balance and perhaps wind him. Tetsuji landed while Kyoshi was still on the approach, and though he tried to speed up, the young Sarutobi was unable to get to him before he had managed to put himself in a defensive position once again. But that was fine by Kyoshi. He had already committed to his course of action, and if he managed to land his intended attack, then the fight might be over then and there.

The distance between the pair closed rapidly once again, and as he moved within striking distance, Kyoshi did not slow down. Instead, he wound up with his right arm, pulling at back behind his body and letting out a shout as he threw it forward, “Aaaaaaaaaahhhhh!” With that war crew, his fist flew forward toward Tetsuji’s abdomen with the intention of ending the fight then and there. He still moved as fast as he could with this strike, and because of that, he was confident that it would either land, or at least send Tetsuji diving out of the way, which would give him the chance to breathe for a moment. Either way, he felt ready for the connection that his fist would make. The question was, was his classmate ready for it?

Tetsuji's landing was uninterrupted directly, as he began to fall to the ground his eyes training back on the scene he could see that Kyoshi was stepping forward to close in the few feet that stood between them. It made it easy, his eagerness to rush forwards as Tetsuji planned ahead, he could probably catch him off guard in his approach.

As Tetsuji's feet planted into the ground he felt his weight as gravity began to impose its restriction upon him again. As he watched Kyoshi approach, he changed up his plan slightly, seeing Kyoshi's right arm wind back, he shifted back his feet and let his left slide back so that he was off centered of the punch while looking forward. As Kyoshi let out his cry, Tetsuji blocked the noise out and things slowed down for a second as he planted his right foot forward just in front of Kyoshi and planned out his next combination. It was as his foot landed that things would slow down in his head, reading out each move and almost seeing it in third person beyond that.

Kyoshi's punch aimed for Tetsuji's abdomen began to move in but in the same turn, Tetsuji slid his body ever so quickly to the side of his fist while also shrinking his body down a touch and reaching his left hand to grab the wrist of Kyoshi's fist. His right shoulder would aim to plant itself with a bit of force to Kyoshi's chest if he could get low enough in time and with some fluidity in his motion, Tetsuji would rotate on the ball of his feet so that where his shoulder had hit, Kyoshi would be pressed against his back.

All the while Tetsuji would pull down on that fist and try to let Kyoshi's body slide across his back and bring him off his feet, aiming to use his own momentum against him to a degree but hoping that as he did so, his moving upwards would also help bring Kyoshi off his feet. Beyond that, with a final act of defiance if he had made it that far, Tetsuji would pull Kyoshi's fist further down but also across his body while leaning his right shoulder down and hoping to throw Kyoshi over his body and to the ground while releasing his grip upon Kyoshi.

The shock to the ground and planting Kyoshi upon his back would be a great shift if it would succeed but instead of following him down and planting on top of him, Tetsuji knew he didn't have the strength so staying standing would be required. Instead he'd take a step back with his right foot before bringing it up to his stomach level and aiming to bring his foot down on top of Kyoshi in a single kick with the force and weight of his body behind it as well. With all the transition, it would be a nice feeling to move back into control and a kick to combine on top of the hip throw would be a nice way to pay him back for his own kick at that.

As his punch swung in toward Tetsuji’s stomach, Kyoshi knew he had screwed up. His had flew forward and where he hoped it would connect with the young Uchiha, ending the fight with one big attack, Kyoshi found his fist meeting only air. His sparring partner had shifted at the last second, shrinking his body in such a way that the young Sarutobi had completely missed, and left himself vulnerable. He had not realized just how vulnerable though until he felt Tetsuji’s hand clamp around his fist. Kyoshi’s momentum only carried him forward until he was slammed in the chest by Tetsuji’s shoulder. The wind was knocked from him for a moment, but the young Uchiha was not finished yet. As he gasped for air, he felt his opponent shift under him, putting Kyoshi’s chest on Tetsuji’s back.

Kyoshi’s eyes went wide as he felt the tug on his arm, and he was unable to stop the call of physics as his feet were lifted off of the ground and his body slid across the young Uchiha’s back. At this point, there was next to nothing that the young Sarutobi could do, and so he simply braced himself for impact as his peer gave him one last, huge pull over the shoulder and slammed Kyoshi onto his back on the ground in front of him. Kyoshi felt that Tetsuji had let go of his wrist, but that was about all he could feel as he attempted to recover from the pain of being slammed to the ground. There was a moment, as he laid there, that the word seemed to slow down, and he looked up to see Tetsuji standing over him. The Sarutobi blinked through the pain, traying to understand why he would stand so close after a move like that. Surely he had lost, hadn’t he? Once again, he had let down his clan.

But there was no call from the chuunin that was watching over the match, and there was no sign that the fight was over. Kyoshi was not out just yet, he was only down for the moment. At least he would be, as long as he did not take another hit like the one he saw was incoming. Tetsuji had raised his foot to kick out at Kyoshi, but the academy student was not going to let that happen. He had other plans in mind. It was time for a comeback. The world returned to normal speed as Kyoshi snapped back into reality, and just before the kick managed to slam down onto him, the young Sarutobi threw all of the energy he could muster into rolling into a backward summersault away from the oncoming block, letting out a short breath as he felt the rush of air when kick swung past him. He rolled only one, coming to a stop on his feet, but not wanting to give an inch of ground back to his opponent.

With as much force as he could muster, Kyoshi sprung up from the ground into the air above Tetsuji slightly. He hung there for only a split second, knowing that he would be vulnerable in this position, but he hoped that the surprise attack would give him the upper had for a moment. As soon as his jump had brought him in range, he twisted his body around as hard as he could counter clockwise, and sent an aggressive hell kick down at Tetsuji’s head with his left foot. Regardless of whether his attack connected or was blocked, he would then follow up with his right leg, using his momentum to bring his foot toward Tetsuji’s head one again, in hopes of battering him enough to make him slow down or even give up.

Re: The First Spark [Tetsuji | Invite Only]

Post by Tetsuji on Wed Dec 20, 2017 5:04 pm

Tetsuji's hip throw connected through and sent Kyoshi to his back as quickly as he could muster. His eyes watched him closely as he finished through his movement to move standing over him and bringing his right leg up to crash down upon him though he just laid there for a moment. Tetsuji didn't have time to even wonder if he'd given up at all, so hellbent on winning this fight completely now that he'd taken back the momentum of their fight. Tetsuji hadn't even taken the pause to register Kyoshi's stillness or given it enough thought that their sensei could have called the fight over. He was already moving into his next hit and his leg would begin to come crashing down towards his classmate with as little remorse going into the attack as any other.

It was a strange collusion in his mind to focus so much on remaining in control of the fight, not wasting movements, and to completely win his contest that he'd actually lost his ability to control himself and pushed this fight further than it probably needed to.

His leg came down in sequence but Kyoshi was already on the move, somersaulting backwards and away and Tetsuji's foot planted firmly into the ground and his teeth clenched as instead of Kyoshi's own body, he was met with hard ground. Immediately, he was left out of position and further away from a decisive victory like he so coveted in this instance, to further plant his own superiority over his classmate and show the Uchiha's advantage against them. Tetsuji's leg would begin retracting as he hurried to move back to standing and ready for whatever would come next.

Tetsuji watched in his recoil as Kyoshi entered up into the air and hung there over head of him for a second, letting the small passage of time as Tetsuji began to shrink back into a defensive position encompass the momentary pause between them. With his arms brought up, Tetsuji's eyes tracked Kyoshi's position in air and watched as he began to twist his body around and bring his heel towards Tetsuji. Both arms raised further up to meet the leg and taking the brunt of the kick into his forearms as they dropped back and tensed up under the shock of the hit.

It wasn't until the second kick hit his arms again that Tetsuji was shocked back into the world of the awake, focusing his senses to stop a third kick as his arms had already taken the beating. He would hesitate an instance as he waited for the pressure of the kick to stop and knowing that his opponent wouldn't have many counter moves while in the air; Tetsuji would reach out and grab towards his ankle with his hands to take a tight grip of them.

If he could get hold, his only plan would be to separate distance again by taking the ankle and grabbing onto it with a second hand before rotating his and outstretching his arms in a spin to throw Kyoshi a distance away. Indiscriminately in direction, the goal would be on getting hold of Kyoshi's leg if he could and then from there, he had a lot of options but if he could toss his opponent, it would be a small moral victory to go along with shifting the momentum of their spar back in his direction again.

Tetsuji was fast. Kyoshi was sure of nothing else after he saw the boy raise his hands and ready a defensive position before his kicks could swing around. Even so, the young Sarutobi launched the attack with all of his might at his peer, hoping that the force would be too much for the Uchiha to handle. The first kick connected with Tetsuji’s forearms, the force of the blow causing Kyoshi to hand in the air for a moment before he gritted his teeth and brought around his second kick. However once again, Kyoshi found his foot meeting nothing but the young Uchiha’s forearms and being absorbed by the block. The resilience of the kid was probably the most frustrating part to Kyoshi. He had been on the offensive since he had slammed him with that kick, But even so, the young Sarutobi could not hit him hard enough to make the boy give up.

Maybe I’m just weak…

It was a fleeting thought; one that hurt Kyoshi much more than he thought it should. He had trained so hard at the academy and at home for so long tat there was no way he was as weak as he felt in the moment. And yet, below him stood a boy from one of the two great clans of the Village Hidden in the Leaves, and he could take his blows like they were nothing. He could stand tall and hold against blow after blow. He could take a perfect kick to the head and get back up to keep fighting. He could miss finishing kicks but then turn himself around fast enough to stop another attack. He could block two airborne attacks one after another without giving any ground. He could reach up and grab Kyoshi’s ankle putting him at the mercy of his throw.

That last though snapped Kyoshi out of his spiral of self loathing as he felt the Uchiha’s grip tighten around his right ankle. Kyoshi’s eyes went wide, and he knew in that moment that the only thing he could do was wait and brace himself for impact. Moments later, he felt the expected pull as Tetsuji spun him for a moment before releasing him, sending him soaring through the air for a moment before crashing into the ground hard. Kyoshi rolled for a moment, unable to stop his momentum quickly enough before finally coming to rest. He was sore all over, but he knew that he had to get to his feet. Grunting through the aches and pains all over his body, Kyoshi pushed himself to his feet, much to the surprise of his classmates who seemed to be in awe of the fact that he could still stand up. It was the first time that Kyoshi noticed them since the beginning of the sparring match. He was wobbling a little bit from sheer exhaustion, but even so, he managed to pull a weak smirk onto his face as he winked towards his classmates.

Not wanting to give Tetsuji the chance to catch him off guard, Kyoshi took up the stance that he had at the start of the fight. The boy shifted his right foot back and bent at his knees, raising himself up onto the balls of his feet so that the oncoming attack would not force him backwards, but he would be able to move quickly if he needed to. His left arm was raised over his left leg, his palm open and facing his own body. Similarly, his right hand was open as well, though it sat in front of his stomach, with his body turned so as to make himself a smaller target. He was ready this time.

He was not going to lose.

Re: The First Spark [Tetsuji | Invite Only]

Tetsuji had felt it too, in that moment as he swung around and let Kyoshi's leg in the air to separate the distance between them. The burning in his side and lingering pain, a deep soreness at his ribs and his body almost curling in on itself as a response but Tetsuji had enough will power to resist and watched as he began to slowly return to his readied position as Kyoshi rolled to a stop a ways from him. As Kyoshi began to stand up to return, Tetsuji felt the ache in his own body and fought to stay standing up and meeting him head on. As long as Kyoshi continued to fight, he wouldn't show any less than what he was shown. He was an Uchiha, dammit! It was his pride on the line and he'd refuse to do anything less than excellent.

It was the smirk that boiled him over, seeing it in response and knowing his opponent was beginning to feel fatigued too, had to be. There was no reason for it and nothing that would drive more into his skin as Tetsuji refused to wane in the slightest and Kyoshi was there just, enjoying it? He silently cursed himself, his eyes tightened on his target, his teeth clenched against themselves, and a silent snarl formed in the space between his lips and nose. Cursing himself even further internally at his own lack of power, his lack of sharingan to display his own might and his own lack of jutsu. He might not have noticed the innocence behind it but it seemed like pure arrogance to Tetsuji who was going to make sure it was known he wouldn't be taken lightly, no matter how tired or weak he really was.

The wink that came out to the rest of the class was the final straw of his own arrogance. The pain dug into Tetsuji's body as his foot tore into the ground and he began to propel himself forwards into action. Kyoshi would already be preparing himself again just like he had at the start of the fight but this wouldn't be a copy of what had transpired already. Tetsuji refused to waste a single movement, refused to give him an opening and wouldn't take any hits like he had the first time around. Sure, he was weak and tired but his own pride pushed him forward, to carry the Uchiha name in his class, to show his classmate that the Uchiha were not to be taken lightly at all!

His eyes were intense, as he focused in, his teeth unclenched and his body relaxed, in the instance that he ran forward he was without pain, closing the distance between the two. He would learn to take Tetsuji seriously in this fight, even as a spar, Tetsuji had to show him the disparity between the two! The disparity between himself, to confirm his own bloodline and his own power.

The distance between them would close quickly, almost coming to a slide as he closed the distance but a bit closer than before, continuing how they had mirrored their first fight. But that was where the deception lies, with a twist, he would rotate his body around and spin on the ball of his feet, letting his other leg leave that ground and aim to plant his heel at Kyoshi's head again. With all the force and tenacity his body could muster, the stress was picking up on his body again, in force, the tension and soreness in his side rose as his body twisted as he tried to maintain his form as cleanly as he had done to open their fight, to mirror it exactly as he could.

This time though, his kick would be less aimed for the center of his head and just past it this time, in hopes that Kyoshi would change up his reaction to the kick. Grabbing his leg, even reacting in the same way, it wouldn't matter. Tetsuji's goal wasn't to get the hit with his kick, it wasn't even to disorient his opponent, his only goal was to get his leg near Kyoshi's head. Maybe his judgement was clouded, maybe he wasn't superior but he didn't care. He had to confirm his own strength, sharingan or not, his dull red eyes would lighten up and focus intensely on the coming action as he planned each and every step.

Re: The First Spark [Tetsuji | Invite Only]

Kyoshi caught the slight reaction to his wink at the other students. Tetsuji was not impressed, as far as the young Sarutobi could tell. He needed to lighten up a little bit in Kyoshi’s opinion. After all, this was just a spar for school. And even though Kyoshi really wanted to win, having a but of fun was not out of the question, at least as far as he was concerned. The thoughts were unimportant though, because just as soon as the fight had slowed down, Tetsuji was on the move again. He was fast, probably even a little bit faster than Kyoshi, and he was using that to his advantage. He ran with purpose, and as he approached, the academy student tightened up his stance and readied for the incoming strike. He could already feel the bruses form their fight forming across his body, and he was not looking forward to the next morning when he would inevitably be even more sore than now. But the fight would not last much longer, and then he could finally rest.

The approach somewhat mirrored the initial assault that the young Uchiha had unleashed when the battle had begun, and Kyoshi was going to be ready for it this time. He wouldn’t let his sparring partner slip away like he had the last time around. He learned while they fought, and he was going to put all of that knowledge to good use right here, right now. With a twist, Tetsuji rotated his body around and spin on the ball of his feet, letting his right leg leave that ground and aim to plant his heel at Kyoshi's head again. Instead of taking the hit in his forearm like last time, the young Sarutobi remembered how well getting under Tetsuji has worked before. And so, as the expected kick came for his head, Kyoshi bent his knees to get under the attack. His joints and muscles screamed in pain as he continued to exert them with no regard for their limitations, but Kyoshi had to push through. He had to win the fight and show Tetsuji that the Sarutobi were just as good as the Uchiha. The kick would soar over his head, and then the counter attack would come.

Another blow to the Uchiha’s chin would have been preferable, but Kyoshi did not have time for his opponent to turn all the way around. By then, he would be able to put distance between the pair, and so Kyoshi was forced to act. Once again, Kyoshi would place his hands on the ground and coil his left foot into his chest in preparation. His breathing as laboured, and he could barely catch his breath despite having been standing still for some time. He had just not build up the endurance to keep this up yet, but he had no time to make a mental note of that deficiency. He saw his opening. Then, with the boy’s leg in the air still hanging over him, Kyoshi would kick out his leg into Tetsuji’s side and abdomen, hopefully winding him enough to end the fight. If it didn’t end now, then Kyoshi might actually lose to the Uchiha after all; a disappointment he did not want to deal with.
