Height: 5'6'' | 66 in.

Hair: Black

General appearance:
Estumi can best described as a rather lanky figure; fragile in the way his body appears underneath the layers of clothes he wears. He cannot be considered the tallest of males, and his weight is a result of the sickly fate that has befallen him, resulting in a form that garners a few protruding ribs every now and then. Though ill-built, Etsumi still uses his looks to his advantage, and has his parents to consider. Inheriting their slender jawlines, high cheekbones, and narrow-arched eyebrows; coupled with two sober eyes of smoldering black pressed hard like opaque charcoal. Against the unhealthy pallor of his skin is a mane of thick and occasionally untidy black hair that frames the edges of his face and conceals his right eye.

Though the climate of the village is not extreme on either ends, Etsumi still tends to wear multiple layers to hide the insecurities beneath, and these can be categorized into a couple layers. The innermost being a thin blue-grey shirt; bland and typical. The middle layer consists of a dark grey, long-sleeved windbreaker-like jacket that is used for both defense and insulation. And finally, the outermost layer which belongs to a heavier black coat frequently buttoned up to his throat. His lower body is comprised of baggy black pants and open-toed sandals. Color-wise, Estumi tends to stick to black and grey, but has dabbled in white on very rare occasions, and prefers casual wear for practical reasons.

The only thing he wears about his head is his forehead protector, and the insignia is partially concealed by his hair.

With distinguishing marks, Etsumi has no real scars or piercings located on his person in part due to his lack of contribution to real confrontations. One day, however, he will earn himself marks of history, but until then, there is nothing special physically about him.

Getting to know you.

Serious more often than not, Etsumi does not know the expression of 'lighten up', and tends to bear a very realistic view of the world. Every action made is performed with a certain deliberation, and of much thought on his part. His more muted nature is a consequence of the sickness and fragility of his birth, and therefore, his subconsciousness forever lingers in the back of his mind due to that ailing health. This sober, grim aspect of his personality creates an unsmiling, even dull persona that others may find unappealing, and though he has never truly minded the detachment it brings, there is a loneliness it burdens him with. By growing up too fast and conceiving a somber outlook, Etsumi has lost many the opportunity of conversation, and what it is like to create allies and even friends. The result is a youth stalled by realistic visions of what he considers an unkind world.

Due to his more realistic and logical considerations, he sees the behaviors of others for what they are; not what lays beneath the surface - perhaps driven by emotion or other turmoil. This rational instead of emotional sense of mentality developed alongside his rather permanent sober mood, creating a stable and grounding force in Etsumi's everyday life. He has essentially doomed himself to forever see the actions of others, and that of the world, as driven by logical instincts rather than based on attachments. He is unable to consider the possibilities of actions moved by emotions and desires. Though this comes at a price, the inability to connect with those on a more essential level, he knows no other basis. No matter who tries to change his thoughts, they are only met with a wall of admonition.

A sharp contrast to the somberness that normally comprises his personality, Etsumi's short temper is caused from his weak body and ill health; that of which takes the form of a congenital heart defect. Due to this, he is very defensive when it comes to bringing up that subject, and will snap at the slightest implication of him being weak. As a shinobi, he takes pride in being able to partake in strenuous activities despite the threat it places on his heart, and will not let anyone take that away from him. He has been known to verbally abuse others in a fit of rage when he assumes his position will be stripped from him. Though most of his anger is directed at himself, he takes it out on others in order to lessen the frustration writhing within his chest. Those who stand in his way are presented with both abuse and resistance, and though he has never been physically aggressive, there is no telling when he'll finally snap.

A trait derived from his realistic views of the world, Etsumi can be rather pessimistic. When a situation goes south, and the event roughens, he will believe it will only end in either death or terrible ramifications. This characteristic often does not present itself in verbal form, but arises when prompted around others on his thoughts about an event. With such negativity, he frequently experiences bouts of anxiety when he dwells hard on his illness, and has pondered many times that he will suddenly drop dead one day due to failure of his weakened heart. Though it has never stopped him, the nagging thoughts linger.

This is a nasty streak that will sometimes show itself in the rare moments of insecurity, especially when the topic of his clan comes up in conversation. His somber personality tends to become discarded, replaced by a more dulled down version of bragging about the self-proclaimed 'superiority' that he and his kin possess. Though uncommon in his attitude, it does exist, and is like a an ugly monster raising from a long-depressed slumber. But it is short lived. Once the bouts of prideful bragging is over - some in part to hide his own insecurities - he will revert back to his normal self. Apologizing straight after once the more rational side of his brain kicks in. That is, of course, if one had not insulted his clan first.

Deep-rooted within Etsumi's personality is a loyalty somewhat unknown to him. Due to his youth, he is unsure of what connections he can create among those he may care about, and this form of loyalty is the only thing that goes against his rational side of thought. This trait of his personality is driven entirely by an emotion he will never be able to explain, and when prompted, will only reply that the companion is merely 'useful'. No matter whether he admits the truth or not, his loyalty runs not only deep to his clan, but his friends as well, and he will go through lengths to not betray their trust. Perhaps even going as far as to lay his life down to protect.

Etsumi is a rather quiet individual with realistic views and a pessimistic outlook on life. Given this, he struggles to adapt to a world he does not truly understand, and maintain the jaded visage of his childhood. Born ill, he possesses many insecurities based around that weakness, growing defensive and completely independent. He has never relied on many people in his life, but always manages to return to the grips of his clan. In short, he can considered rather dull, and suffers all the more for it.

There are many simply things that can make Etsumi rather content, and he doesn't care much for frivolity. Due to his heart condition, he tries to find the easiest ways to relax, and normally finds it out in nature, incense or even by diving into a good book; mostly one about history or of clan lineage. On top of that, he doesn't mind hanging around with his younger brother or simply taking a quaint stroll around the village.

Due to his simple likes, these include things like green tea, his mother's cooking, and even just lazying around the village. He's quite partial to learning about genjutsu, and studying further into his clan's legacy.

The things he dislikes are practical to him; many either resulting in connections to family, personality, or his condition. Etsumi takes measures to prevent himself from encountering these undesirable ideas - more specifically the weather or anything that could exacerbate his stress - despite some that can be unavoidable.

Many of these may include the fact he does not care for spicy or bitter foods, or bright colors simply due to an innate dislike. Any unnecessary stress, whether it be from rain storms, the stress of his overbearing father or worrisome mother, and insults to his clan rile him up into an agitated state. Not only that, he does not believe in unrealistic goal, and will quiet literally find people who are too hopeful as somewhat distasteful.

Etsumi does not have many fears, but he is not without flaws, and therefore possesses a few. His most major scare revolves around the center of his illness: his heart. He does not admit it, but he fears the day it will one day fail him whether it is during a fight or just basking out in the sunlight on a warm day. As always in the back of his mind. Basing his fears on that, he tends to take on a more deliberate, thought-out route.

Other than that, Etsumi has a particular fear of drowning, and despite him not being afraid of water, any sight of the ocean makes him rather quite nervous. He is rather unaware of how the fear stemmed.

His motivations are his own, and have always been striving towards one goal: power and status. For the years of his life, he has desired to prove to people that his condition is not a hindrance, and that his clan's reputation can be maintained. Etsumi strives to improve in any way possible even in his youth, no matter the consequences that may befall him in his pursuit. The intolerance of others looking down upon him due to his flaws only inflames his determination, and he pushes to become a shinobi worthy of his clan's weighty name. Failure was never an option from the start.

Next to the desire for his own gains is also the approval of his father; a nod of acknowledgement he never earned as the heir to his immediate family. It is a battle to gather such acceptance from the man that has reigned over his childhood with an iron fist, and though he despises his father, he cannot completely shake away that need from his shoulders. The motivation for power - to prove his worth - is not just for his own self-efficacy, but for his family and clan as well.

Etsumi was born during the last couple years of the war that gripped the clans; secluded from the battlefields, his mother painstakingly gave birth to him while his father watched on morosely. Called away from the scene of the war to ensure his firstborn's safety. He was one of the newest generation of Uchiha, and the heir to his father's legacy. His namesake presented to him belonging to a very distant uncle on his mother's side. Three years later, the Senju and Uchiha came together in a truce, and formed what would become Konohagakure.

He was there when the founding of the village exploded into reality, and was raised in the confines of his clan. Destined to be what his father envisioned. Strong; dutiful; respected. He was a face his father wanted to be recognized, and by the age of five, was already starting to be trained in the very basics for an advantageous head start. The man pushed him; strained him. Pressed forwards into developing a son who could be worthy of a father's praise and a mother's unwavering love. He was fed stories of the grandeur of the Uchiha clan, and what it meant to have power. Strength for defense.

Etsumi was particularly eager, but his father too demanding. After a couple months of training, it all shattered into nothingness when he collapsed during a session and woke up later in the hospital.

At almost six years old, he was diagnosed for a failing heart. The ultimate disapproval in his father's eyes telling him everything he didn't want to know. It was a congenital birth defect of the heart resulting in the occasional rapid breathing, fatigue from poor blood circulation, and shortness of breath. The man who tried so hard to turn him into a worthy heir looked at him with only disappointment. The training stopped there.

When Etsumi was around seven years old, his mother conceived another child and gave birth to his younger brother; another black shock of hair and another member into the clan. His father hoped, this time, it would make up for Etsumi's shortcomings. The boys grew up together after that; a power struggle for both.

When the days of Academy enrollment came around, his father almost considered not permitting Etsumi the ability to enter. To keep him from growing up into a shinobi and merely causing problems with the condition of his heart. But Etsumi was not easily wavered from his goals. He defiantly fought back, persistent and demanding he give him a chance to prove his worth; to get past physical limitations and show he can pass the Academy.

His enrollment into the Academy was his last chance to gain approval from his father, and he struggled through the years. Despite his hardworking attitude and practice, he slipped to the back of the class and remained there. Never gaining ground, but never falling any further. The kids who laughed at him never lasted long in the wake of his strange temper. Even with his own shortcomings, Etsumi - against the odds and pushed on by his own determination - stayed within the Academy and grew close to graduation. He works to surpass his father's lower expectations and prove to not only his family, but also his clan, that he can manage in the harsh reality of the world.
