The Lunch Break Scuffle Shuffle! (Private/ Invite Only)

Post by Aka on Sat Nov 11, 2017 12:12 pm

Standing in front of a board, with stacks of small paper near her, a chuunin sensei stood, hands leant on the desk as she addressed her class. Her words were long, tiresome, referring entirely to the lesson of which she had planned. As she spoke, she explained, although a particular young boy paid no heed to the lecture, only picking up a few words here or there. Feet up on the desk, while wearing a black jacket with red and green trimmings, the boy just sat there relaxed, as if the whole class was beneath him. At least, he was relaxed, before an eraser flew through the air, smacking the boy on the head. “Itazura! Pay attention in class!” She declared, the boy rolling his eyes. “And get your feet off the desk!

As he begrudgingly complied, the boy under arm threw the eraser back to the teacher, who put the object away in her drawer. “This paper is known as chakra paper. Chakra paper is made from a specialised material that reacts to, as the name suggests, chakra. This is used by shinobi to determine what they are elementally attuned to. While shinobi can often learn many elements in their life, with some rumoured to learn as much as all five elements, in reality there’s always one element that someone is more… Attuned to. Sometimes, this is hereditary. The Uchiha, one of our two founding clans, for example, are known for their affinity to fire. So, after your lunch break, that is what we will be doing – you will be tested on chakra paper what your elemental affinity is, to better understand yourselves as shinobi.

As if on cue, the time for lunch arrived. Students got up from their seats, and as they did, so too did the grumpy Aka, hopping up dramatically to stand on the desk before jumping off and walking out with a nonchalant step, quickly earning him the scornful glare of the tutor. Quickly shoving his hands in his pockets, the Itazura boy walked out into the corridor, pushing past a couple of other students with his shoulder while glaring over his shoulder at them. Pushing on ahead, he began to laugh to himself, his footsteps wide and heavy as he began laughing. “Bwahahaha! Chakra test… Puh-lease! I’m going to be the strongest shinobi in the entire world! I don’t need to take a test, I don’t care who says so!” he declared loudly, to himself alone. “So, extras, if you could do me a favour, and get used to the sign of my back! Because I will always be ahead of you all!

As one could imagine, it didn’t take long of him going down the hallway before one of the students punched the arrogant Itazura in the back of the head, causing him to stumble forwards and drop to the ground, before rolling forward and turning with a scowl. “Which fucker did that?!” he practically shouted, although shortly silenced by one of the teachers leaning out of the room and gesturing for him to lower his voice.

The kunoichi that had been teaching the class was, for lack of a better word, boring. She had been droning on and on for some time about topics that Kyoshi was not sure he could reiterate despite how hard he had been trying to pay attention. He was not quite known as the kid who slept in class, but it happened often enough that he was starting to worry that rumours of his frequent naps would make their way back to his father. And so lately, Kyoshi had been doing his best to pay attention in each and every class. Unfortunately, he had only succeeded in appearing as if he was paying attention, which was all he really needed if he was honest with himself. The teachers hadn’t bothered him recently about paying attention in class, but even so, he was not learning nearly as much as he needed to. In any case, he was reminded by the eraser whizzing past his head that he was not the worst problem in his class.

The dull thwak of the rubber eraser hitting the blonde, messy haired boy behind him in the head. “Itazura! Pay attention in class!” She declared, the boy rolling his eyes. “And get your feet off the desk!” Kyoshi could only sigh as he turned back to face the front of the classroom. He had met Aka Itazura once before during a shuriken throwing practice. If he remembered one thing about the kid, it was that he was very….confident. He was good at being a shinobi, and he knew it. The only annoying thing about that fact was that he decided to share that knowledge with every person he came into contact with. As Kyoshi turned his attention back towards the front of the class, he could not help but shake his head slightly at how conflicted he felt about Aka. Kyoshi could not stand bullies, that much was certain. All they did was prey on people that couldn’t stand up for themselves. But Aka wasn't really that; at least not in Kyoshi’s mind. Aka was just…loud.

So, after your lunch break, that is what we will be doing – you will be tested on chakra paper what your elemental affinity is, to better understand yourselves as shinobi.” The teacher concluded her thoughts just as the time for lunch break came, and immediately the young Sarutobi’s mind wandered to what his chakra test would show. His clan generally held an affinity for fire chakra, though that was not always the case. His curiosity was only growing when he heard a familiar voice ahead of him calling out for all to hear. “Bwahahaha! Chakra test… Puh-lease! I’m going to be the strongest shinobi in the entire world! I don’t need to take a test, I don’t care who says so! So, extras, if you could do me a favour, and get used to the sign of my back! Because I will always be ahead of you all!”

Kyoshi frowned slightly at the insinuation that he was better than anyone else, though it was more because he knew that it would only drive people away from him rather than pulling them together. The village was stronger when people worked together, and Aka’s thinking could only make people weaker. This case was proven mere moments later when one of the kid’s from Kyoshi’s class clocked Aka in the back of the head, moving away before anyone could tell who did it. Great, Kyoshi thought to himself. Because that will definitely make him nicer to all of us…Someone has to be his friend or we are all screwed. Rushing over to try to defuse the situation, Kyoshi tired to usher the other boy into the cafeteria before things got out of hand. “Hey Aka! I think whoever did that took off.” He scowled and glanced around the group of students who were continuing to move through the halls. “Nobody is gonna admit to it, so we might as well ignore it since they just want to make you mad anyway. What do you say?”

As he felt the twang in his head from the contact of the fist, Aka’s eye twitched at what was to come. A familiar face, from not too long ago where he went to shine at shuriken training. Declaring that the assailant had ran off. Frustrated, the boy clicked his tongue against his teeth at the announcement. Yet, the easily angered anger issue bundle was soon to fly off the handle at what was yet to come. “Nobody is gonna admit to it, so we might as well ignore it since they just want to make you mad anyway. What do you say?

To Aka, this was blasphemy.

Spinning on his heel, Aka growled, his temper rising and practically gritting his teeth as if trying to grind the air between his lips to dust. In an instant, the boy’s fists tightened and curled, his glare piercing like daggers towards Kyoshi as he spat out his words, his usually loud voice suddenly low and threatening. “I’ll only say this once, so make sure… To wash out… Your god damn ears… I don’t give two shits who it was, stretched chin! I’m going to do the best I can for the village one day! I’m going to be the strongest! So anyone who thinks they can get away with that… Don’t you dare try to get me to let go of that!

The more he spoke, the more loud his voice got, before quickly stopping himself and swiveling from a straight on pose to face Kyoshi while his feet were in a rough L shape, left leg ahead of him and pointed towards Kyoshi while his right foot was back and facing with the toes pointed right. With a sudden ferocity and a silent swing, he pointed his left hand towards the boy, paying no heed to the crowd that had gathered to watch the outburst of the emotionally insecure child. “You say that they ran off, right? That means you saw them… So, don’t bullshit me… Tell me where he went, or fight me you damn, stretched chin nerd! The teachers won’t reprimand them! So someone needs to teach whoever that punk was a lesson!

At this, he stopped pointing at Kyoshi, a small tear welling in his eye that quickly disappeared as he turned to face the onlookers. “Oi! At least one of you bastards must have seen it! So spill it! Spill it! Spill it!

SMACK

Tears welled up in the training child’s eyes, as he continued to struggle to learn the substitution technique. So often, he would try, yet at every instance, he simply felt too much fatigue, his chakra seeming to deplete too quickly for him to be able to use the technique that his mother was waiting for properly. He stumbled, holding up his hands and forming the hand seal for the technique to no avail. Finally, with another smack, the boy collapsed backwards, a bruise on his head.

When next he awoke, he was in bed, wrapped up properly with a cold juice and his teddy next to him.

SMACK

As the words left his lips, Kyoshi knew he had made a mistake. The blonde haired time bomb spun on his heel and audibly growled in the young Sarutobi’s face. His hands curled up into fists, and Kyoshi waited for the beating to begin. Aka’s words came out in low bursts that sent a shiver up Kyoshi’s spine. Each word that the boy spoke compounded that effect. “I’ll only say this once, so make sure… To wash out… Your god damn ears… I don’t give two shits who it was, stretched chin! I’m going to do the best I can for the village one day! I’m going to be the strongest! So anyone who thinks they can get away with that… Don’t you dare try to get me to let go of that!”

Aka’s voice grew louder and louder until he seemed to realize what was happening and stopped himself. But the damage was already done to Kyoshi. He could see Aka shifting into an offensive stance, ready for a fight for which Kyoshi was not prepared. This guy thought that he could be the best in the village, but all he did was berate others and talk about how weak they were. That revelation was enough to cause Kyoshi to narrow his eyes, anger swelling in his chest as the kid before him threw a hand out, pointing at Kyoshi accusingly. “You say that they ran off, right? That means you saw them… So, don’t bullshit me… Tell me where he went, or fight me you damn, stretched chin nerd! The teachers won’t reprimand them! So someone needs to teach whoever that punk was a lesson!”

With each passing word, the stupidity of the boy before him became more an more apparent to the young Sarutobi. This guy had no idea what true strength was. He thought that he could be strong all alone while the rest of the world watched him from behind. But that was stupid, and Kyoshi knew it. The only way for anyone to be strong was to form bonds with others and grow together. That was why he kept training with Akame, and that was why he always tried to make friends, no matter where they could be found. But this guy? He was a lost cause. And as Kyoshi’s narrowed eyes raised up toward Aka, he knew exactly what he would have to do. For a moment, Aka glanced away and cried out to all fo the onlookers, his frustration and rage bubbling voer to a point that would soon attract the attention of teachers to be sure. “Oi! At least one of you bastards must have seen it! So spill it! Spill it! Spill it!”

Music:

Kyoshi could not hesitate any longer. This kid needed to understand how weak he really was. He would never get anywhere if he kept this up. And Kyoshi was going to prove it. He stepped forward while Aka had his head turned to their peers, and in one big, violent expression of his anger, Kyoshi reeled back his right hand before punching Aka square in the face. If his hit connected, he would waste no time shouting out at him in the aftermath of the strike. “There, now I’m the one that hit you! So take it out on me, if you’re so strong! You think you’re gonna be the greatest in the village, but you’re just an idiot who doesn’t know where strength comes from. You need allies if you want to be strong, otherwise you’re just wannabe who will never understand the Will of Fire!”

Kyoshi then dropped into one of the basic fighting stances that they had learned in their sparring lessons. He was crouched, with his left foot forward and pointing at Aka and his right foot back and pointing to his right. His right hand was above his right leg, the hand balled into a fist just like his left hand, which was hovering over his forward leg. “So come at me, big mouth. Show me what you got!”

His stance:

Once more, as had become a common situation for him, Aka felt a twang of pain as a fist connected to his head, turning him around somewhat as a bruise began to quickly gather upon his face. The easily angered Itazura paused at the contact, as if taking in the sensory input before turning to face where the punch had come from, only to find the one who had told him to let it go had punched him. The normally quick to act, impulsive boy paused. A blow to the face. As he stood there, taking in what had just happened, the boy began to speak, acting as if he were some kind of pompous teacher. “There, now I’m the one that hit you! So take it out on me, if you’re so strong! You think you’re gonna be the greatest in the village, but you’re just an idiot who doesn’t know where strength comes from. You need allies if you want to be strong, otherwise you’re just wannabe who will never understand the Will of Fire!

Aka could practically taste the hypocritical nature within his voice, the stinging in his cheek only further emphasis to his distaste for this boy who, after first approaching him and fanning the flames by telling him to let it go, something which Aka would have done regardless in time, then proceeded to punch him in the face. And then, as if simply trying to provoke Aka, he declared that Aka was weak. The Itazura’s face kept its consistent angry glare.

Suddenly, before Aka even had a moment to respond verbally, the other boy dropped into a fighting stance, one that Aka recognized as something that, before, he might have tried if he were legitimately trying to fight. He watched as his left foot and left fist were placed inbetween him and Aka, whereas his right fist was at his side, and right foot equally spaced apart and just a little bit more than shoulder width apart. The Itazura thought back to how his mother punished him for acting in such a stance. Debating whether or not to actually fight – after all, for all his talk, Aka was simply louder than others. At least, in his mind. Then, the boy talked, trying to further goad the Itazura, whose anger issues boiled up and began to froth and stir within his mind.

So come at me, big mouth” was all that Aka would hear before he sprang into action. Remembering how he had tried to use such a stance himself, the boy moved, mimicking the actions his mother took when training with her. For simple spars, it wasn’t a bad stance. A stance that suggested an equal footing, and an honorable fight. But, this boy had made it clear with the sucker punch that this was not a fight with traditional sparring rules. Dropping down low, Aka Itazura twisted his body, propping his body with his left arm and right leg, while his right arm stayed above and in front of his chest in preparation for any sort of counter attack. His left leg, however, went on the attack, moving to hook around the boy’s forward shin with his foot, before rotating his entire body and rolling, yanking the boy that provoked him forward in an attempt to first take him off balance. Then, using the momentum of his leg swipe, the boy propelled himself into a roll down the hallway roughly one meter, facing his body down so as to press his hands together and, as if doing an extreme push up, leapt upon his feet, to turn towards his opponent as the students that were once on their way to lunch, now stood in silence and watched the showdown occur. At this point, Aka was without words, entirely in a trance of fighting. All his bottled up insecurities, all his open anger. Right now, they were all focused on this boy.

Despite all of his big talk, Kyoshi was not ready for the attack that Aka made. He was so focused on calling out the other boy that he had let his guard down. So, when the academy student crouched and launched his leg forward, there was no chance that Kyoshi would dodge it. His eyes widened for a moment when he felt his balance leave him, surprised also by the force behind Aka’s kick. But despite the loss of footing, he was not going to give up. Thinking back to the sparring lessons that he had engaged in with his older cousins, Kyoshi propelled himself in the direction that he was falling instead of fighting it, dropping into a roll just behind his adversary so that when Aka landed back on his feet, Kyoshi was right behind him and ready to counter. Unfortunately, Kyoshi was no master ninja, so the roll was not nearly as fast as he had hoped, which meant that Aka had already turned around by the time Kyoshi was standing again, giving the other boy plenty of time to counter his incoming attack. Regardless, Kyoshi knew there would not be much time before someone would intervene, so he had to get his punches in while he could. The young Sarutobi twisted his body and stepped forward with his right leg while he swung out at Aka with his right hand, arcing around for more of a hook than a straight punch. He then followed up with a kick from his left leg up at the boy’s chin, hoping to catch him and daze him for a moment.

Whether or not his attacks connected, Kyoshi knew that Aka was stronger than him after that first kick to the shin, so he pulled back into a more defensive stance, his knees bent and his hands up to protect his face from the punches that we knew would be incoming. Sweat dripped down the side of Kyoshi’s head in anticipation of the coming onslaught. And yet he continued to provoke the boy, for reasons he was unsure of himself. “Is that all you got?!” Even though he knew it would hurt, Kyoshi needed to take these punches and dish out some more of his own if Aka was going to learn his lesson. Just because you say you’re the best, it doesn’t mean you really are! And Kyoshi intended to prove that to the angry boy, even if it meant getting beat up himself in the process.

All around the pair, students had begun to gather and stand, silently watching hopes that their silence would allow the fight to go on longer since the teachers would not come to investigate. Some of the kids wanted to see Aka get beat up, some wanted to watch the fight, but some just wanted to go to lunch. And it was one of those academy students, an Akamichi who really wanted to eat his lunch, that called out, to everyone’s dismay. The fight continued, but it would not for long after the boy shouted “STOP FIGHTING YOU TWO! I’M HUNGRY AND THE CROWD IS IN THE WAAAAAAAAAY!”

As his opponent took the swipe, and the two regained their balance, Aka prepared himself with his legs at a shoulder width apart and his arms held upwards in a boxing stance. Patiently, he watched as the aggressor and attacker regained balance and took up a different posture. He was really intent on this fight, huh? Not that Aka would back down. Not at this point. As the boy swung a fist once more, Aka analysed the movement. A wide arc, likely for more power. So, Aka raised his arms in front of his face, stepping closer so as to reduce the distance that the arm could travel. The light thud against his arms indicated the moment the impact occurred, yet shortly after, Aka felt an impact to the bottom of his elbows that pushed upwards towards his face – a knee that he had failed to catch or notice due to the arms positioned to block the punch.

Stumbling backwards, Aka paused for a moment, deciding to take in the information he’d somewhat gathered from taking the hits. The boy was a wide striker, likely not far different from Aka’s own, currently limited knowledge of combat. Still, the fact that he was most on the attack suggested an impatience to Aka. Furthermore, his attacks were aimed for the face. Not something Aka was a particular fan of as a method of attack. Too much distance for error to occur.

Next, Aka heard the words from the boy’s lips. “Is that all you got?!

Furious now, Aka slid forwards, placing his right foot behind the retreating leg that was used to kick Aka. Meanwhile, planting his right hand on the opponents chest, Aka completely leant forward, intending on pushing over his foe along with himself. Using this momentum, he kept pushing, hoping that the stretched chin fucker’s head would bang against the floor. Regardless, there was no reason for him to delay. He wanted to get this damn fight over with! So, as the attack connected or not, he slammed his head forward, hoping to smash his head into the forehead of the other in a vicious smack to the head.

The crowd continued to gather, meanwhile, muttering beneath their breath. Some hoped that the fight would be over swiftly. Others hoped for a better view. Several debated to go and fetch a teacher to break it up while their peers dissuaded them for hope of entertainment. And more just wanted to go get lunch, like the hungry Akimichi that had spoken before. Not that Aka cared, as after his headbutt, whether it connected or not, he moved to put his weight on his left knee, pressing it into the attacking boy’s stomach with intentions of forcing his body more upright, snarling as through gritted teeth he spoke up. “You talk a lot of shit for someone that’s little more than a child thinking they’re self righteous, huh?! If you were so desperate to pick a fight, then you shouldn’t have been a prick that strikes from behind, you cowardly fucking prick!

Re: The Lunch Break Scuffle Shuffle! (Private/ Invite Only)

Post by Kyoshi on Tue Nov 14, 2017 7:01 pm

Kyoshi could not help but grin when his kick sent Aka stumbling backwards. He wasn’t the strongest person in their class, and he knew that much for sure. So to see that he could send the class big mouth back a bit was enough of a reward to him. At least for the moment. His small victory was short lived though. Even though he had his hands up, ready for the oncoming assault, he was not prepared for the way that Aka launched himself at the young Sarutobi. Bracing himself for a strike, Kyoshi was thrown completely off balance by the shove to his chest. “Oooowaaa!” Kyoshi shouted in surprise as he began to fall, though his cry was cut short by the vicious headbutt that the blonde student pressed into Kyoshi’s head.

Blinking through the white that the young Sarutobi saw as he fell in what seemed like slow motion, Kyoshi realized that he was going to lose to this kid. He wasn’t sure if that meant that he was wrong, and that Aka really was the strongest and he really didn’t need anyone’s help to be as good as he was, or if it meant that he himself was just weak. Either thought was disappointing, though one was far more earth shattering than the other. Was the Will of Fire just a line spouted to encourage one another? Or was it truly as powerful as his clan made it out to be? In this moment of falling, Kyoshi chose to believe that he was just weak. After all, Kyoshi had showed on multiple occasions that he was nowhere near the top of his class, and though he was better suited for practical applications of being a shinobi, there were clearly those that were better than him. Apparently, despite his big mouth and angry personality, Aka was one of them.

Kyoshi was snapped back to reality by his head cracking against the floor. He let out a sharp grunt of pain, surprised by the force with which he hit the ground; Aka hadn’t held back at all. Once again, Kyoshi blinked hard through the dull ache that permeated his entire head now. He could vaguely hear the other students around them muttering under their breaths at the turn of events, but once again, Kyoshi had little time to care about the atmosphere that the little scuffle had created. Instead, he found himself in pain once again as Aka kneeled down onto his stomach, forcing the young Sarutobi to sit up slightly in order to mitigate the pain. As another side effect of this position, Kyoshi found himself right up in Aka’s face as he spoke to him through gritted teeth, his words coming out as more of a snarl than actual language.

“You talk a lot of shit for someone that’s little more than a child thinking they’re self righteous, huh?! If you were so desperate to pick a fight, then you shouldn’t have been a prick that strikes from behind, you cowardly fucking prick!” Kyoshi’s eyes were wide for a moment. His words stung, but not because of their tone of even because they were said with such anger. They stung because the young Sarutobi knew on some level…he was right. Kyoshi was talking about honour and working together, and here he was, sucker punching a future ally in the face. It was a messed up thing to do, and if it were not for the fact that Aka was currently leaning on his stomach, he probably would have felt sorry for it. Instead, he only resented Aka for pointing it out. Though at the same time, he was ready to be done fighting.

Gritting his teeth through the pain in his stomach, Kyoshi glared back at his opponent, defiance in his eyes.

“You know what Aka, you might be right. But maybe I wouldn’t have to be such a jerk if you weren’t such a pompous idiot!” With that, the young Sarutobi reached up with both hands and went to grab Aka by the sides of the head. If successful, he would drive his own forehead into the blonde boy’s as hard as he could before letting go and falling back onto the floor, spent for the moment. Kyoshi knew that Aka could probably bounce back and start beating him up at this point. But seeing as people had been running for a teacher before Kyoshi’s last attempt at an attack, one would probably hsow up soon enough.

At least that’s what Kyoshi hoped…

Re: The Lunch Break Scuffle Shuffle! (Private/ Invite Only)

Post by Aka on Thu Nov 16, 2017 3:16 pm

Shortly after his attack and pin connected, and his growl, hate filled speech rang through his foes head. Aka was not finished though, raising a fist in preparation to unleash another heavy blow at a point blank range. Still, through the gritted teeth of his, the stretched chin nerds words rang out, as he admitted Aka’s potential to be correct. “You know what Aka, you might be right. But maybe I wouldn’t have to be such a jerk if you weren’t such a pompous idiot!

The logic of bullies.

That was the thought that went through Aka’s head, only mere moments before the next thought was “the fuck” as the enemy grabbed him by the sides of the head, and then slammed a head butt square into Aka, knocking him off the fellow student and backwards as he clutched at his head, growling and hissing. This was the last straw for Aka, who now looked down at the groaning form of the prone combatant. There was no way Aka would let him have the last word. The last punch. The last hit. Underhanded tactics at all times were used by this idiot, and Aka intended to bring him a world of hurt.

With that, the Itazura stepped back for a moment, before taking a heavy step forward, his foot slamming on the ground, and his arm rolling forwards in an exaggerated swing of power, taking full advantage of the immobility of his foe – at least, that was the intention. Yet soon, Aka found himself off balance, as down the hallway, a rather unhappy voice shouted out, infuriated. “Itazura, Aka! Cease your violent bullying at once!

The words caught him off guard, and almost as dramatically as he had prepared his attack, he stumbled forwards next to the boy he was fighting, slamming roughly into the locker through the sheer momentum he was preparing to put behind his attack. His head bounced off the metallic and wooden lockers, causing him to stumble backwards into a standing position, blood dripping from his nose. From there, he glared at the teacher, a tall man with an equally tall afro, wearing the Konohagakure no Sato flak jacket, and with black eyes that pierced daggers back at Aka. Reluctantly, Aka was the first to look away, raising his left hand to wipe the blood from his nose as one would expect a boxer would do. Tears welled up in his eyes, although quickly they went away as he stumbled past the boy, dizzy from the consecutive blows to the head. The entire fight left a sour taste in his mouth. On one hand, he was the one standing. That meant he was the winner right? Yet, the other boy had both the last word, and the last punch. The crowd were muttering and cheering for the other boy. Cheering for Aka, who was sucker punched into a fight, to lose. His eyes glared sharpened daggers at Kyoshi, enraged beyond mere childhood rivalry.

Aka felt alone.

Was this the fate of the best?

As he got up to the teacher, the chuunin turned to the group, gesturing to Kyoshi and calling to the nearby students. “Get him to the nurses office to have his injuries tended to.” At this, he turned to Aka. “You, meanwhile… Detention for 3 days. You can go to the nurses after young Kyoshi over there has recovered from what you did to him. During your 3 day detention, I want you to think about the wrongs of bullying, do you understand? The students here will be your allies. Get along with them, and if I catch you starting a fight again, we may debate your expulsion. Understood?

The tears returned to Aka’s eyes at the words. Expulsion. Starting the fight. Bullying. Was he a bully? Aka knew he was loud, but he never thought he had gone out of his way to torment his peers. He viewed himself as better than them, yes, but, this fight wasn’t even begun by him. In a way, not even by his opponent. The pride Aka knew of himself, the self confidence, it all swelled in his throat as he looked down towards the ground, no longer paying heed to anyone around him. “Understood, sir.

Re: The Lunch Break Scuffle Shuffle! (Private/ Invite Only)

Post by Kyoshi on Sat Nov 18, 2017 12:49 pm

Kyoshi was seeing stars once again. Normally, he would try to blink away the dancing lights in his vision, but right now he was in too much pain to do so. He had taken multiple good hits to the head, and he was honestly beginning to wonder if he would have a concussion after this. At least his attack had been successful though, which he was aware of thanks to the relief of pressure from his abdomen. Aka had been forced back, which mean that at least for the moment, Kyoshi was free from his assault. But that brief moment of respite did not last very long. In an instant, he heard the thud of Aka stepping forward, hard. And as he blinked though the pain that had latched onto his skull, he could see above him the blond boy, a fist raised to the heavens before it began to swing forward with all the force Kyoshi imagined the boy could muster. The only thought running though his head was, This is gonna hurt…

“Itazura, Aka! Cease your violent bullying at once!” The words surprised the young Sarutobi, and apparently his assailant as well, considering the tumble that Aka took after his name was called from down the hall. He slammed into the locker near the pair, a loud crash sounding through the halls before the blonde boy pulled away, blood dripping from his nose. Kyoshi’s eyes went wide, the sudden rescue giving him a burst of adrenaline that allowed him to see through the pain behind his eyes. The afro-clad chuunin as the end of the hallway stood there stoically, his eyes locked on Aka in a death stare. Aka stumbled forward to the teacher as Kyoshi got himself to his feet, though he was helped by some of the students around him that were apparently on his side. The crowd was cheering for both sides of the fight, divided by varying opinions on whether or not Aka was to blame or if Kyoshi was in the wrong. But through it all, Aka’s glare remained on Kyoshi, his dagger like gaze more that Kyoshi was comfortable with.

Regardless, Kyoshi stumbled after the boy, expecting to be reprimanded as well for his role in the scuffle. After, when it came down to the facts, Kyoshi was actually the one that started it. Surprisingly though, as he stepped forward the teacher called out to him and the surrounding students. Understood?”

Kyishi was dumbfounded. How was it that Aka was getting in so much trouble and the only thing that Kyoshi was being told to do was to go to the nurse? It made no sense to the boy, seeing as the fight was really his fault. Not just that, but Aka had been right! Kyoshi had sucker punched the boy when, in reality, he wasn’t hurting anyone with his boasting. If anything, Kyoshi should be the one getting in trouble. Sighing for a moment, Kyoshi shrugged off the two boys who had helped him up and staggered toward the teacher and his former opponent. “Wait,” he said quietly, waving so that he could get the chuunin’s attention. “Aka didn’t start the fight sir. I did.” The man’s eyes went wide for a moment as his gaze darted between Aka and Kyoshi, as if he was gauging the truth in the Sarutobi’s words. “If that is the case…then you better explain yourself.” At this, Kyoshi nodded and finally stood even with Aka, his eyes directed up into the chuunin’s face. There was no defiance in his words, only honest mixed with a hint of regret. “Sir, Aka was being loud and annoying, telling us all how much stronger he was. To be honest, I was just tired of it. He’s always talking about it, and it just finally got to be too much. So, I hit him. That’s what started it.”

The teacher seemed to be at a loss for words for a moment. He closed his eyes in contemplation as he decided on a punishment. So much for this not getting back to my dad…Kyoshi thought to himself as he awaited judgement. “Fine then!” The chuunin’s voice rang out from the silence that had taken the whole hallway, each student waiting to hear the verdict. “Then it will be 3 days of detention for both of you. Maybe while you’re in there together, you can sort out your problems so this won’t happen again.” With that, the teacher turned on his heel, telling everyone to get to lunch before time ran out. As the crowd began to move on, Kyoshi turned toward Aka and smiled weakly. “I assume it’s too late for me to apologize, right?”
