To Those Who Settle(P)

Post by Kutari on Fri Mar 23, 2018 12:15 am

The air was stagnant, captive to the relentless mist which knew no boundaries as it burrowed itself into the confines of the land of water. A day just like any to the residency of such a land, its influence being as common as the astrological cycle of night and day. The mist was an expected routine of all creatures within this world, similar to the movement of humans and their typical interactions with one another, incorporating a mass of experiences which are identical. Such a routine was expected particularly in the village known as Kirigakure, a village known as one of the major villages in the world due to it’’s flourishing popularity and dominating military might. Still seeking to find its culture and traditions as it’s still a newly built village; the youth fermenting their own traditions in the mystic capabilities of jutsu. Advised worldwide being a great accomplish as a master of the arts, inspiring many to begin their journey to become the most formidable of opponents in their own fashion.

Forging such a passion into their daily activities, it could be described as an anomaly when certain designated areas to train - such as the training grounds for the village - would be vacant as they were that day. Encased within an empty tank of mist, abandoned from the sense of sound as no words or cries would be present, simply the eerie atmosphere the mist presented. Though one individual would arrive on this day described to have overcast weather, the lack of direct sunlight making it easier to blend in with the distorting mist. Known by others as Kutari Uchiha, the inactivity these grounds presented only brought confusion to him as it was the most popular area to train at. Though there were many other areas one could strengthen their capabilities, the idea of every single shinobi evacuating such a place seemed unrealistic. Despite the Deep Well being a favored area to train, especially due to its technological advantage and appeal to the many water natured ninja, this place should be a bit more populated to his assumption. However, Kutari fretted little, as this would save him an extra 10 minutes of having to travel to the secluded island he loved to train at due to its lack of popularity therefore less distractions. This odd blessing would come off as being saint-like, expecting to get a good workout in.

The grounds introduced a plethora of nature in it’s vicinity, though it’s presence never putting an obstacle for potential training routines. The grounds typically had a very generic setup: some rooted wooden training logs to punch, a steady stream to practice technique, and an open plain. Though each grounds had it’s distinguished feature unlike the rest, this one shedding it’s imperfections. Shifted ground as the earth seemed to be manipulated in some way, roots exposed from the ground surface, burn marks extended quite some feet. The mark of the Shinobi was ever present, now inhabiting the world and continuing to do so like a wildfire. The setup of the grounds would allow the boy to get creative with his adventures, wishing to train to his heart's content. Though after a certain amount of time training begins to be just that - training. He wanted an opportunity to truly test his might, impatient for the chuunin exams to arrive. Kutari wished to have some sort of combatant like himself, or someone to really test his abilities with. Though no matter, as the grounds proved to be isolated from reality in itself, offering fickle invitations that Kutari just so happened to receive.

He would begin his warm up with a quick huff in the midst of the grounds, his brown hair flapping due to the sudden movement of his own body. His tan skin being visible throughout the mist, its density lacking at that time of day compared to its fullest extent. A white v-neck shirt overshadowed by a black jacket, matching black in pants, shoes, and pants would follow. Though a o-yoroi would be fastened around his weight, orange in color. A purple scarf in the same area to finish off the look. His typical outfit unlike any other. He would begin his session with a quick warm up, preparing himself with stretches and light jogs. Trying to improvise on the lack of equipment throughout the grounds, finding an easy solution back on the island with multiple obstacles and forest to be manipulated to bestow a good regimen. The plain was surrounded by forest, though he hadn’t planned on sticking to his typical script. Though with a lack of any true terrain, it would be difficult to make this anymore interesting, as he valued the oddities in life and methods which made things unorthodox and wonderful.

Deciding upon it being a strength and speed training today, he would take advantage of the training dummy and space between each one to practice. Three dummies stood side by side one another, though having some distance to allow mobility between them. He would take up arms as he worked on his strikes and kicks, maneuvering around the three as if trying to reenact a numerically unfair fight. Wondering if he should try to learn a new jutsu at this time or leave it to later in the day when he worked out again, the boy dove back into his training mentally to get the most out of it. Having no real limit tester to see how far he can go, a true entity to test his capabilities. He half wished for someone to arrive sooner or later, as he burrowed his fist deep onto the dummies, splintering it’s exterior slowly. Without noticing his might increasing, he wished for more, feelings of inferiority and a lack of accomplish seeping into his heart, only to transcribe into anger and a bolster of determination, though with this determination came an extremely vulnerable mentality which would easily crack upon failure. Kutari stood far from failure, experiencing enough failure as he failed to complete the most important of tasks in his youth which cost him great consequences. He would fail no more as his only choice was success or death, lost in thought as he hit the dummies harder and quicker as his emotions riled.

The land of waves was certainly a strange country, and the Village Hidden in the Mist was no different. Akemi had been training his ninjutsu and taijutsu skills, ever since the commands of his mother, as she had told him that it was time for his training to begin in earnest. She’d been giving him lessons in both taijutsu and ninjutsu, but after giving him these lessons, she told him to start practicing and learn the rest on his own. She wanted to teach him, she’d said, but after that she had wanted him to improve his skills on his own, that was the best way to truly learn.

As he’d been walking towards the training grounds that day, though, his thoughts kept turning back to the fact that he hadn’t been training alone. The first, Satori Ryuutei a powerhouse of a young man and natural fighter, then had come Riku Rostu, a bright girl with a great deal of potential and love for studying that might’ve even matched Akemi’s, though he would never admit it to her. Both of these people had quickly become trusted friends, staunch allies and rivals in separate fields. Were he to be honest, in a way Akemi depended on both of them; every time he and Satori had trained, they both got better, and every time he and Riku studied they learned more. It was a slightly fascinating bond that he’d created with two people that he might’ve never have met, and everyday it only made him more curious to see who he’d meet next.

Unfortunately, due to many of the soon-to-be genin, and hopeful chunin aspirants, the training grounds were practically empty with many doing their own special training. He was a little disappointed, but at the very least, he’d be able to get some personal training in for once. He entered the training grounds, slowly practicing first his taijutsu and shurikenjutsu against some nearby trees and had been working on his transformation jutsu. Suddenly he heard someone deep in training, every punch sounding more and more emotional, angry in some way. Purposefully, he slowly made his way towards the voice, curious yet concerned, and ready to jump away at a moment’s notice. The voice was not angry actually, he decided as he got closer, but more and more frustrated, as if its owner had messed up something in a bad way.

He came upon a young man punching at a small group of training dummies, and as Akemi watched he couldn’t help but feel like he’d seen this young man before. That was when it hit him! This was Kutari-san! He only knew a little bit about this other boy, but he did know enough to be able to definitively say that he was approximately a year or two older than Akemi himself, making him a genin, as Akemi was nearly at the stage of graduation. He was probably preparing for the chunin exams himself, and it was better to not disturb him, he also was hoping that this boy might be able to help him, or vice versa.

“Hello!” Akemi said, standing a few feet away. “Nice day for training today isn’t it? Preparing yourself for the chunin exams?” It was a genuine question from the from the overly curious boy, one day, though he knew that everyone wasn’t worth friendship, he didn’t think that Kutari-san would be too angry with him. Or at least, he hoped that he wouldn’t be.”

Lost within a trance centered around the motor movements of kicks and punches, he only quickened with speed as he fought the several training dummies in front of him, their idol stances becoming a deprecating reality to Kutari as he was aware of the ease behind this current training. Having a knack for putting his own physical health in danger during his secluded training, it was laughable wasting his time with such foes that proved to house no effort of necessary tact for him to subdue. Though being an extremely useful tool for those wishing to practice their close combat moves and techniques, to Kutari such a basic form of doing as such would come off as redundant, spending years honing such skills in life threatening scenarios, truly pushing him to his limit. Furthermore, this method of simply fighting and kicking was only a small portion of his methods of fighting, the art of hand to hand combat accompanying a plethora of different tactics and moves which know no limit. It didn’t take long for Kutari to become bored with this way of training, therefore causing him to feel as if he was wasting his valuable training time on an obsolete method. His natural instincts to improve and empower his combative might would send him in some form of an inner tantrum as he mocked himself for wasting his time, the training bringing little to the table. He needed something animated to hit, to test his might against and to offer some sort of challenge. Wishing to exert himself far beyond his limits, in order to obtain new limits that his body and mental fortitude could handle.

As he was just about done with this powerless training, he suddenly heard the sound of a person speaking behind him, causing him to stop abruptly. Typically, Kutari would find himself attacking someone who came out of the blue with such a sudden pitch in his blind spot, especially whilst he was in his fighting gears. However, the lack of drive to continue this training any longer caused the boy to simmer down in time for him to have gotten back to his senses and out of his own head, recognizing the lack of hostility from the individuals movements and tone, expecting much more force and rustling grass otherwise.

Kutari would turn around hazily, a slight expression of annoyance leaking from his face thanks to his most recent discovery in this basic format of training. What he would feast his eyes upon was a sight the Uchiha hadn’t expected, half-wishing to see someone near his age or embodying some sort of tactical experience. A boy who looked to be a few feet shorter than Kutari, his face was far from hardened as it came off gentle and pampered. Well kept hair and sweetened emerald eyes, this random encounter would not entirely be the most ideal with Kutari’s intentions in mind. The Uchiha would listen to the boy continue to speak after the upbeat “Hello” which startled Kutari, finding it an interesting subject to wonder why this boy was being so polite. ‘Had Shinobi always been so kind and affectionate,’ Kutari would wonder as he looked over the boy, wishing to find some sort of verification upon his occupation, no simple villager would come around these parts in interest of communicating. With a blank stare, Kutari would search to no avail for some sort of headband marked by the Shinobi of Kirigakure, hinting that this boy was likely not a Shinobi as of yet. Probably being an Academy Student, given his age and voice. The idea of the boy refusing to wear a headband - the same situation as Kutari - lightly crossed his mind, though was shot down instantly due to the unlikelihood of such a scenario.

Finding himself with yet another of the children he rebuked daily, it seemed it was time for Kutari to entertain students once again. Even though this certain one had the personality traits Kutari despised the most in such children, maybe he would be different somehow. It’s not like Kutari had any other ideas to do at the moment, his training being wasted as he was forced to come up with a new method of working out.

He’d look around loosely, entertaining the words this boy just voiced only seconds ago, trying to find this “nice day” within such a depressing atmosphere of mist and overcast. A short glance around his surroundings to exaggerate his words would be all that it took, acting as if he took his words quite literally though they were nothing more then a means of conversation; small talk being a tactic which Kutari hated. Kutari would fail to vocally express his own humor in the boy’s words upon the value of this day, allowing his own perception of the situation to do the talking. Looking down at him, he would answer the question asked with his typical warm tenor voice, though lacking the passion and vocal intensity to incite the idea of interest in this mundane conversation.

I guess you can say that.

Was it really that obvious Kutari was a genin? He wasn’t wearing his headband, other ranks could possibly be at the training grounds at this time of day. He was curious as to whether he fit the typical genin look, or if it was more so an educated guess. Despite that, he continued on as it was of little importance to the conversation at hand. A short pause would come about the scene as Kutari tried to fumble around what he wanted to say next, getting straight to business.

I assume you share my interest to train today on this...nice day.

A second pause would come as Kutari smirked at the term ‘nice day’ being used once again in this depressing place, rolling his eyes quickly before returning them back to the boy. He didn’t look tough, but for the time being Kutari had to find something or someone to entertain him until he could come up with a backup plan for his training. He could only hope this boy proved to be something special or had some potential behind him, but first he needed to check his intentions.

What exactly are you wishing to work on today? Academy jutsu, hand to hand combat, the handling of weapons…

He would allow his voice to linger subtly upon the final words spoken as he didn’t want to lengthen his list any longer, trying to suggest one of these three to be the topic of importance for this young boy that day. Though only one topic actually interested Kutari - he didn't even have a weapon after all - hoping the green eyed boy chose it out of a wish to strengthen his already formulated power. Though it wasn’t much to hope on, as he didn’t want to underestimate the boy, he wasn’t sure if he was overestimated what he expected out of this encounter. His cool composure would echo across the field as he waited for some sort of response from the seemingly energetic boy, as a grimacing aura could be found escaping the confines of the young Uchiha’s aloof stare.

The young man stopped in his training and turned to Akemi looking absolutely annoyed and fed up with the boy before they’d even truly spoke. This didn’t give Akemi a great deal of confidence as to how the rest of their interactions were going to go. He knew that not everyone would give in to his strange way of looking at things, even his parents often described the way that Akemi saw things as odd. He knew that eventually he would probably have to kill, despite how much he didn’t want to, but he would do so.

The boy in front of Akemi seemed rather disinterested with what Akemi had to say overall, and felt almost as though most attempts at communication would be dismissal. When the boy spoke it wasn’t with much enthusiasm, but at least he wasn’t being chased away, and strangely even this other boy seemed to want to train. He wasn’t exceptionally enthusiastic about the thought of training, though when a slight smile played at his lips Akemi smiled lightly as well. Though when he asked, Akemi had to admit that he wasn’t one hundred percent certain which one of the three options, he felt like he had the least amount of experience with.

The third, were he to be honest, was probably his weakest area, after all. He had his kodachi, but weapons weren’t his strongest subject and if he was going to be the shinobi that he kept swearing he was going to be, then he would have to improve on his weapon skills. He watched the young man that stood there watching him, and felt like it was an odd stare down. He needed to answer this other kid. He was pretty sure that this guy was a genin, but he wasn’t wearing any headband, so for all he knew, Akemi could have been mistaken.

“I’ll be honest, weapon skills are something that I need to do a lot of work on. Did you need to work on your weapon abilities as well?” Akemi didn’t know this kid like he knew some of his friends, nor as much as the people that he’d been meeting recently. But hopefully, this would lead to yet another friend. At least, that was what Akemi hoped.

Kutari continued to watch the boy intently, housing some form of interest in the potential events to come, though still having a distant stare as his current dissatisfied status in himself would entail signs of obvious boredom. Even his vocal tones carrying that characteristic, as he was lost in a sea of thought and wishing to produce action which failed to surface in his ideal image. Even with this newcomer establishing some time with Kutari as a breath of fresh air from his own seeming failure in productivity, the extent of which this person was able to really benefit Kutari was unknown. If anything, the Uchiha suspected him to be virtually useless, carrying around a sort of mentality tailored around being clueless and green. Even as the boy began to speak, in order to answer the leading questions Kutari established to come up with a unified goal, he seemed to have that inexperienced recruit status of a lack of mannerism and background towards the topic at hand. It made Kutari almost laugh at the boy’s honesty regarding a lack of skill with weapons, even more so inquiring about Kutari’s own background with weapons and the usage of them. Sparking a plethora of memory which gave insight to his many years training his own capabilities with weaponry as a whole, his own passion blazing for the many weapons and tools which could be created in order to benefit a Shinobi and their cause. The feeling of cutting down your opponent with a well timed attack from the precise angle of a blade, watching the insides spill out in an aggressive retaliation. The panic in ones eyes, seeing they’ve been damaged, depending on the wielder of this weapon which struck skin meaning the jeopardy of the remaining scar and possibly untimely death. Imagining the thoughts running through the mind, alongside the nerve system traumatized and endanger, reaching a full fight or flight mode as the battle would ensue until one person couldn’t rise any longer. Bukijutsu was a passion Kutari held deep to his heart - at least one of his main passions - assuming Kutari shared the same gauge of interest and lack of background with this field would be an understatement, it being clear by the apparent age of the boy he had a low regard for Bukijutsu, lack of time not being a reasonable excuse.

Though all of this was true, Kutari wasn’t one to fully right off any alternatives. Aware that this boy was some sort of Shinobi, he likely possessed some prowess in another specified field of ability, fully aware there were quite a few options one can dedicate themselves to and succeed in, whilst other fields would likely suffer. This boy could be one of those cases, his demeanor not showing some sort of hopeless mentality or feelings of lost, instead coming here with a particular goal. Or at least Kutari would assume, as he was under the impression no one would enter these grounds just for a casual stroll along the field. No, this boy had some sort of skill in one of the many categories that Shinobi are able to utilize, though he was unsure which. Kutari would have to find out sooner or later, to properly see how this child could be of assistance to Kutari’s own development, if that would even be possible. Some have more uses than others at the very least.

The air continued to be paralyzed, all at the hands of the developing mist which would continue to encompass the terrain around. Whatever patches of grass that still lived despite the many attacks on this land made for combat and lethal training would be still, as the remaining ground areas filled with dirt followed this cycle as the gravel refused to rumble. The day was relatively similar to when he first arrived, making a hint at how long the two may have been there, and how long this boy came along out of the blue. Kutari would continue to spectate the boy, even after he finished his last words with a question, wishing to get some words out. Though Kutari stayed silent as he watched the boy, as if looking at his next meal, feral eyes looking over him as they tried to search for something in particular. Signals of what the boy may have been through in the past, or recently even. Looking over his clothing and skin for answers to the main question rumbling through his mind. After a few moments, he would give up this search, finding no particular evidence to cause his mind to follow suit. His clothes looked relatively clean, his hair kept well, poures unscathed and marking no sign of sweat. Truly new blood, either that or a freeloader. A thought came across Kutari’s mind, as he tried to fathom the idea of children being so free to just go around exploring but never actually getting to their training. No bruises or cuts to be made, where was the development in the boy? He wanted to be a Shinobi no? Prove that he could gallop above the typical threshold of whatever rank or label he was currently set in. Why exactly were the two still chatting with one another? The question rang across his ears, as if trying to convert itself into energy to be expressed through the vocal folds instead of his mind.

He had only realized suddenly how lost in thought he truly was, jumping back to reality with a quick re-evaluation of his surroundings. He looked towards the boy, surely expecting an answer after what seemed like some seconds of just silence. Silence that Kutari was typically comfortable in, gasping in the break of noise he constantly would be sensitive to and pick up on. Recalling the question asked to him, he would answer in kind. An unamused voice coming forth, one that suggested his mind was elsewhere with the distant tone of speech.

No. I wouldn’t label my weaponry skills as needing to be refined, especially at the level of your own if what you say is true. Weapons are pretty important to the life of a Shinobi after all, at least in my personal opinion.

Kutari carried his typical mentality of brash words, detached from the common etiquette or possible sensitive nature of people. Almost blatantly mocking the boy for his lack of skill with weapons, though Kutari had no ill intent with his words as he held the same tone of expression. This simply being a way that he spoke, unfazed by the feelings of others and speaking the truth. Tackling the topic head on, and telling it all for what it is. He wasn’t going to do the boy the injustice of sugar coating it all, possibly hindering his own growth. It was also true, the boy needed to improve his training. His own abilities were at a great peak of capability and skill, at least in his bukijutsu. Fully aware of his necessity to train other aspect of his jutsu and further his prowess. The main interest would instead be this boy, Kutari fully aware now that he needed to train that aspect and get stronger. But the Uchiha wasn’t even sure if the boy had the interest to actually train in such a topic, as the way he worded his thoughts it seemed he was more so answering half of Kutari’s question, not fully diving into what he was there for today to work on. Kutari would in a sense, be willing to help. But he wasn’t going to be the one to suggest helping him, not in such a direct way. In fact, being slightly annoyed as Kutari noticed the way his question was sidestepped, growing emotionally distant as his passion lied elsewhere, specifically in the trees far off in distance to the right of the boy. Still facing him, but his mind not in it. A reality the boy would have to work on to improve, restoring Kutari’s passion in this conversation if he wished to enlist his help. From what it seemed, the boy was nothing more than a social butterfly, occupying his precious training time.

Kutari would turn to the boy again, looking him dead in his eyes. Wishing to either wrap up this conversation, or possibly find a person to train with. Even if it would be more so Kutari aiding this boy in the weaponry category, it would be much better then training against wood and straw. Idle and mundane, not incorporating much tactical flexibility.

Bukijutsu incorporates a wide range of tools, weapons, and utility that’s different from other fields of jutsu of course. You could say Bukijutsu is my most beloved amongst the many fields one can dedicate themselves to. I assume you have your own favorite or go to methods of attacking, very well being interested in bettering that aspect of yourself, or possibly another that we haven’t discussed. But you still didn’t answer my question, so I’ll try to reword it. I typically would expect those choosing to visit these fields interesting in training some aspect of themselves, it being physical, spiritual, or even mental. Today, you disturbed me in the midst of my own training, and now I’m curious what exactly you’re doing here. Do you wish to learn and train alongside someone perhaps? It being the reason you came speaking to me, possibly interested in Bukijutsu, Taijutsu, or even some Academy related skill...or are you just passing by? If so, I have to focus and get back to my own training, something I won’t allow to be disturbed for long.

Kutari decided to lay down the ground rules, setting his intentions to the boy and expecting some sort of compliance. He was growing with irritation as this conversation continued to drag out as he was visibly in the heat of the moment. He would have little of it any longer, wishing to perform his routine and better himself as he was most dedicated to his task. Having to catch up to the rest ahead of him, having no sense of a cap or way of calming down. This passion he loved immensely and hastily despised.
