Akemi smiled as his kick rammed squarely where he’d planned on it, yet as he looked up, the man hadn’t moved at all. There didn’t seem to be any effect to what he’d just done! He’d messed up somewhere, that much was immediately obvious, he’d missed something in his reading. The moment that Kiyoshi inquired about taijutsu to enhance his striking power, he winced. He’d been an idiot. He’d learned all different kinds of styles, different forms of attacks… But like an idiot he’d neglected to learn the more nuanced aspects of it, the strengthening of one’s own body using chakra…

He lowered his leg as Kiyoshi started moving around him, examining him. Strangely, he felt almost a little apprehensive, as if he’d failed. In a way, he had, though his failure was more a failure to read, failure to comprehend and understand. It was the thing that he hated the most about this aspect of the meeting, and was something that he planned on rectifying once he was finished with what everything here at the Ryuutei compound.

After a few moments and a few more trips around him, Kiyoshi said that he’d decided to teach him the basics of tiger-style, which only made him a bit happier. Bear required more raw strength, and Kiyoshi said that Lion was a balance and was one well suited for longer battle, but that if Akemi wanted to learn that one to ask Satori. Kiyoshi admitted he didn’t know enough about the style to want to try teaching it.

Tiger was all about hitting an opponent once really hard, Kiyoshi said, which made sense considering that many cats like tigers tended to be ambush predators. One hard hit tended to be all that they needed to take down their prey.

Akemi watched as the man straightened and then lowered his body, bending slightly at the knees and leaning forward. His arms slowly slid downward, hands stretching to mimic the claws of an animal, while his own claws extended. Kiyoshi’s eyes narrowed on Akemi and he told him to mimic the same stance, and said that he’d either have to strengthen his fingers or to enhance himself with chakra. Kiyoshi waited for him to mimic the stance. Akemi stood up straight first, then slowly he bent at the knees, and leaned himself forward little by little, then he slid both arms down and stretched out his hands.

“You mean like this?” Even as he stood there waiting on input, he began to think about both strengthening his fingers and learning how to use chakra to make his attacks stronger. He was done being weak. He would was going to be the strongest shinobi, no matter how much effort he had to put in to make it so.

Post by Satori Ryuutei on Thu Apr 05, 2018 7:27 pm

Kiyoshi watched the form of the boy quietly for a few moments, before offering a single nod of approval. It wasn't a difficult stance to get the hang of, after all, the boy clearly had Taijutsu skill. He simply seemed to lack the fundamentals of chakra control, a common issue in younger shinobi. Satori was most certainly an exception in that, the boy wasn't like most children their age. Still, Kiyoshi would then straighten and move forward motioning for Akemi to maintain his current position.

"The style is designed to keep your center of gravity as low as possible. This has several benefits, for once, it makes grapplings incredibly difficult to use against you. But, more importantly, it allows you to focus all your momentum on your core, and use that to amplify your attacks as well as maintain your agility." Raising a hand, chakra would rapidly flood into his fingertips before flames erupted within his hand.

"The first stage is simple-- mobility, agility, and reaction. Your job is to maintain that stance, use all your limbs for mobility. Your feet are no more your propulsion as your hands. Every limb you have is a weapon, even your mouth." As he stated this he would focus the chakra, until it all magified into the tip of his finger which began to glow a brilliant white. He then aimed it at the boy casually.

"Dodge, it won't kill you if it hits but you'll be hurting for a while until we can get you healed. Maintain the stance, focus on getting used to the maneuverability of the new center of gravity." With that, his finger pulsed once, and suddenly a blast of concentrated flames burst like a gunshot from his fingertip. Blasting into the ground next to the boy, causing the grass to instantly explode as chunks of ash and flame flew in every direction.

A single example of what he was firing at the boy, before lifting his finger and aiming it calmly at Akemi. He gave the boy a single moment to prepare before he would begin. Firing blast after blast at the boy with exact three second intervals. Giving him just enough time to dodge, land, and dodge again. How effectively he did so, how much he was able to stay in the stance, it would all come down to Akemi. At least Kiyoshi was giving him some degree of a chance. It was harsh training, painful training that the Academy frowned on putting children through.

The Ryuutei were not like the Academy. Satori was unphased by the brutal training, and he had his fair share of scar's from his father's flames and claws. It was as natural to him as going on a walk with a father that a normal child would have. They were warriors, killers, ninja. There was no room for such idiocies as "gentle training", in Satori's eyes, even if he placated to it in the Academy walls.

Akemi watched Kiyoshi slowly, as the man analyzed him and then gave a slight nod. Akemi couldn’t deny that the stance did feel fairly natural; after all he was low to the ground, and felt as though he might have a new form of control over himself. Kyoshi was giving his approval, over Akemi’s form. Yet even as he stood there, getting himself accustomed to this new form, he thought more and more about what he’d have to do. He’d have to learn about controlling the chakra of his body, then he’d be truly dangerous.

Kiyoshi explained the purpose of the stance, low center of gravity, hard to grapple, focused momentum towards the core to amplify attacks while maintaining agility. Yet as he raised his hand, Akemi watched as chakra flooded into his fingertips when suddenly flames erupted. He was told that he was to maintain the stance and dodge, use all his limbs for mobility, hands and feet were both equally used for propulsion. His mouth, his hands and his legs, everything was a weapon.

Before he could ask what he was supposed to be dodging exactly, Kiyoshi launched a blast of fire in Akemi’s direction. There was a moment of apprehension, but as the grass exploded, sending chunks of debris everywhere, he immediately understood. He took aim at Akemi and he prepared his thoughts, steeling his resolve in that one second. The moment that Kiyoshi fired, Akemi took off, leaping once, landing and leaping again. He moved his hands and his legs, trying his best to maintain the stance that Kiyoshi had showed him. This suddenly showed him how Satori was so much different.

His natural training was beyond anything that the Academy was having them do. His arms and legs were burning, hell even his lungs were burning just a bit. But at the same time, despite the fact that the explosions were quite firmly right behind him, he wasn’t going to stop. Every move that he made was difficult, trying to keep the stance was the most difficult part of the whole thing.

He could feel his arms and legs burning a bit, and his fingers were hurting, he was pretty certain that he was tearing up his nails. He could feel just a bit of blood coming from his fingertips. When he had a second, he glanced over at Satori, saw the other boy for a second and gave him something of a smile before jumping following another explosion and kept going. It made him wonder if charging straight at him was what Kiyoshi was trying to force Akemi to do…

Satori and Kiyoshi both grinned as they watched the boy move, he was clearly not used to anything like this, his hands were already bleeding from his nails. But that's what made it so different, and similarly, so much more effective than the simple pushups and shit that the academy had them perform. This was actual combat training, and it was maintained with each blast that exploded next to the boy's foot. He was barely managing to keep it up, but for now, he was managing, and that alone earned him some star's in Kiyoshi's eyes. Of course, the more he fired, the more fatigued the boy would become without a doubt.

But that was the point. Forcing the boy to hit his limit physically, and then push past it until he could no longer properly function, and then repeating such. This conditioning was what allowed the Ryuutei to obtain the strength and chakra pools that they held naturally. Genetics gave them a helping hand, certainly, but that was all that it did. The rest was gained through their training, and if the boy wished for that training as well then they would happily give it to him.

Every shot continued, pushing Akemi again and again, if the boy got too close he would find the ground explode in front of him, if he got to far, the ground behind him. All the while the area he had just been would suffer the same treatment, caging him in, cornering him with only a few ways to barely escape from the damage with each barrage of flames and explosive force. Satori remained where he was, idly shifting occasionally to keep blood flowing while he waited.

Eventually, whenever Akemi would finally stumble and reach the limit of his stamina, the area behind him would explode instead of atop him. Kiyoshi fully expected him to be bruised and battered, likely with torn up fingernails and sore areas from chunks of dirt and stone bombarding him indirectly from the explosions. Lowering his smoking hand and offering a grin, he placed it down on his side and would nod his head once in approval.

"A good first round. Rest. Drink if you want water. Satori," he glanced at his son, and the boy wordlessly turned and grasped a carved canteen from the shelf that held the weaponry. Tossing it to Akemi lightly, aiming for his hands to make it easier for the tired boy to catch as he would grin a bit.

"Should I call mother?" He asked curiously, glancing at Kiyoshi whom looked up at the sun, estimating the time before glancing back toward Akemi.

"Only if the pup is up for another round. The hunt is still for a few hours, so we certainly have some time. How about it?" Arching a brow, Kiyoshi crossed his arms as he examined Akemi carefully, not forcing the training down his throat. After all, he wasn't actually a Ryuutei, it wasn't expected of the boy to endure their training the way they did it. The fact he was even willing to try alone was enough to earn some respect around the clan after all.

Re: Meeting the Barbarians [NK, Private]

As each explosion hit just a bit closer to his feet he knew that he was getting more and more tired. But he persevered, and pushed through moving faster and faster, until... Eventually his stamina started to fall, his movements slugged, and even simply trying to power through the running wasn’t working. Yet Kiyoshi didn’t stop firing, instead he kept up the same pace. Each successive shot got closer and closer to catching Akemi, but each time he somehow managed to evade it.

But what he hadn’t taken notice of, until he evaded another shot, was that the ground he’d been running through was more destroyed than it had been a moment ago. Rock and earth had been uprooted, tossed everywhere and the more places that he ran the less places he suddenly had to go. He leapt sideways, to evade one explosion, only to suddenly get caught by another as he slid before he could regain momentum. There was a brief moment where the world transformed into fire, explosions, dirt and debris, then for a second his world went black.

He sat up covered in bruises and a few cuts, thought the majority of damage was in his hands. His palms were incredibly dirty, his nails were broken and bleeding, and he was panting heavily. Yet, at the same time he felt really good about what he’d done. Even Kiyoshi said that it was a good first round before telling him to rest and drink water. Calling for his son, Satori got up and tossed Akemi a carved canteen which Akemi thankfully did, and guzzled the water the moment that he had a second.

Akemi kept sitting there looking at his hands and fingernails; his fingernails were torn all to hell, his hands were bleeding. He was covered in dust, and there were places that debris flying away from the explosion cut him. Reaching up with his hand, Akemi covered one of the cuts that hurt the most and heard Satori ask if he should go get his mother. Remembering that the women of the Ryuutei clan were the ones that made the medicine and knew the most about the medical aspects, he looked up.

He heard Kiyoshi say only to do so if Akemi was up for going again. He looked up as Kiyoshi asked if he was up for going another round, eyebrow arching as he did so. This man was making it Akemi’s choice whether he wanted to go again or not; Akemi couldn’t help but grin, and force himself to stand again.

“Of course I wanna go another round! I’m never gonna be the best shinobi if I stop just because of hard training! If I just need some healing in order to go another round, then let’s do it!” He jumped up, but upon landing on the ground, fell back to sit. “Seriously, if there’s a way to go again then I’m more than willing and ready. That was some of the most intense training I’ve ever had in my life and it was awesome!” His fists tightened and he gave that same determined smile. “I’m not going to stop until I’m the best shinobi! I’m more than willing to keep on going!”

Kiyoshi grinned a bit as the boy would state he intended to become the strongest shinobi, it seemed ambition attracted ambition. Glancing at Satori, his son's words claiming that he intended to claim the position Kiyoshi current held echoed in his mind as he would shake his head in amusement before straightening.

"Go fetch Raika, pup," he stated simply to Satori, and the boy nodded once before turning and launching forward to locate his birth mother. While they waited, Kiyoshi focused on the boy as his arms crossed lightly over his chest.

"Raika can fix you right up. But it'll be taking up her time, which is valuable due to her position, so we'll expect you to reflect the help she offers with the effort you put out." While he explained this he would idly point a finger at the boy's hands.

"I expect to see damage like that every time, and so will Raika. The more you tear your body down, the stronger it is once it's been built up again. The damage is proof of your dedication, this is why despite having medics we all still bare our scars." As he stated this, the door would open and a lithe, but tall young woman with brunette curls flowing down her back entered the room with Satori standing beside her.

Piercing green eyes glanced at Akemi, and she stated with a calm tone almost like music, "Some of them are because our men are too stupid to know how to dodge and we can do no better, however," causing Kiyoshi to make a face and turn to his first wife.

"Raika that's a lie, there's not a wound you can't heal," the woman snorted in disdain before a slight smile played on her lips at the compliment as she moved forward. The woman glanced over Akemi once more.

"Hairline fractures in the distal phalanx's of his hands, first-degree tissue damage across his body, a few second-degree burns. Isn't he an outsider? You went a bit overboard, Kiyoshi," stepping forward her hand would engulf itself in a brilliant green light, before she placed it firmly against the boy's chest. Instantly, the light-flooded outward, coating the boys entire body and rapidly mending the damage within moments as Kiyoshi shrugged slightly in reply.

"The boy wished to learn our style, I saw no reason to give him a break." As he stated this he would glance at Satori and arch a brow. "Speaking of, aren't you going to tag in at some point, Satori?"

The question caused Satori's head to shake left to right once, before focusing his gaze on his father calmly. "No. We fight constantly in training, it would be bad if he developed habits from fighting against a single opponent for too long. Your use of fire style and larger frame will help break any habits that may be forming." The statement caused Raika to smile as the boy showed off his mind once more, as Kiyoshi snorted a bit.

"Who cares, habits are good," despite that, he didn't argue the fact and instead focused on Akemi and sighed.

"In that case, I guess it's me and you for a while longer, pup," he stated simply as Raika lowered her hand, smiling at Akemi before turning and moving to stand next to Satori. Her hands crossing behind her as she would relax, her chin held high showing off the elegant and sharp features that decorated her face.

"I'll keep mending you the entire time," she stated simply, causing Kiyoshi to blink and glance over at her.

"Now who's going over board? You should let the runt take some damage first." Raika simply shook her head in reply.

"No, this will mean he understands just how much you were holding back, and just how far he has to go. Training his pain tolerance and endurance along with his agility is important, after all." As she explained this, Kiyoshi sighed and focused on Akemi once more.

"She's going to heal you the moment you take damage. That means you're going to be taking hits this time, pup. Still up for it?" As he inquired this, he lifted his hand once more as the brilliant white heat once more formed at the tip of his finger, waiting patiently for the boy's approval. It wasn't going to be pleasant, but that was exactly how training should be.

Satori had no doubt about what Akemi would end up choosing, it made a slight smirk decorate his lips as Raika began to perform several hand seals casually beside him.

Kiyoshi gave a grin, and Akemi couldn’t resist but give him a smile back. He would become the greatest shinobi in the world, and no amount of training, no matter how difficult or painful would stop him. He heard Kiyoshi shout at Satori to fetch someone named Raika, someone that Akemi remembered was Satori’s mother. He nodded as Kiyoshi explained about Raika, and Akemi almost apologized for taking up her valuable time. Every word Kiysohi said he absorbed and nodded when the man spoke about the damage he had gotten. He heard the door open and turned to see a tall woman with brown curls entering the room with Satori.

Listening slowly as the husband and wife spoke back and forth, before she smiled at Kiyoshi again. She approached Akemi and mentioned slowly what was wrong with him, before muttering about him being an outsider and that Kiyoshi had gone overboard. Her had glowed a bright emerald green, before she placed it firmly against Akemi’s chest. Then, as the light engulfed him, Akemi felt the many lacerations, bruises and burns suddenly vanish. She had healed him!

Akemi nodded as Kiyoshi spoke. He wanted to learn their style whatever the cost, though he was confused when he looked over at Satori as he had been waiting on Satori to jump in. But his friend said that they had been on repeat in the training grounds and they hadn’t wanted to develop habits in fighting a single opponent. Combat habits were good in one way, but they could lead to defeat pretty easily.

He watched the back and forth between Raika and Kiyoshi. Get hit, get healed, get hit get healed. It seemed like a fairly simple tit-for-tat, and Akemi couldn’t help but smile. Even when he got hurt, he would get healed. This time, though, Kiyoshi was going to be aiming for him specifically to actually hit him. Yet when he heard Kiyoshi ask if he still wanted to go for it, even when the heat returned to his hands.

“Yeah! Of course I wanna do this! Even if I get hurt, then get healed, this will only make me stronger in the end, and that’s the whole point! I’m going to get stronger, no matter what it takes.” His resolve was steel, there was fire in his eyes and the will to do whatever he put his mind to. Even if he had to break his body a few times in the process, well, that was just a small price to pay.

Akemi's statement for wanting to continue earned a smirk from Kiyoshi, obviously pleased by this reaction as the man would straighten slowly before the finger raised once more. The explosion of flame and earth smashing into the boy head on, and before he hit the ground the wound was gone though his shirt was still torn to shreds. Kiyoshi didn't let up, and the bombardment began, hammering into the boys body without hesitation as the barrage of blasts thundered down on the boys frame.

Time passed surprisingly quickly during the match, every explosion just one more tally mark, every wound mended just one more sealed injury. Satori crouched lightly on the sidelines, bouncing the blade lightly against his shoulder as his mother healed Akemi yet again. Causing the boy to slowly tilt his head as Raika glanced down at her son, an idea forming in her mind.

"Why not join him, Satori?" She inquired simply, causing the boy to blink and glance up at his mother.

"Habits, as I said," he responded before Raika shook her head slightly.

"No dear, I mean join Akemi-kun against your father. You don't have many options to practice teamwork correct? Most people can't adapt to our combat styles, but Akemi seems to want to learn. Why not help him against Kiyoshi?" As Raika spoke, Kiyoshi glanced over at his son, arching a brow but clearly not opposed to the idea as the boy would slowly shift his footing left and right, before grunting and hauling himself to his feet with a slight nod.

"Alright," he stated simply, moving toward Akemi casually with the blade bouncing against his shoulder slowly coming to stand alongside Akemi. Glancing over at the boy and offering a slight smirk.

"I'll cover for you. Let's see how long we can go before either of us takes a hit." Slowly turning his gaze back to his father, the man visibly tensed, his free hand lifting up from his pocket as his head tilted slightly to the side.

"The future Mizukage and Kirigakure Champion against the current head of the Ryuutei Clan, huh? Let's see what you pups can do then," he stated simply before he raised the brilliant red hand as Raika raised her own, and brought it down calmly. Her voice filling the air with an amused tone.

"Begin."

Immediately, Kiyoshi fired a blast of flames directly at them as Satori's hand formed the snake seal, causing the hand to turn a deep brown as he outright punched the jutsu, shattering it apart without harming himself as his gaze flicked back to Akemi. The explosion had caused a brief smokescreen, though it wouldn't last for long.

"I'm going to launch you," Satori stated simply, before his hands clasped together, flipping through several hand seals before slamming one hand into the ground. Immediately, the ground under Akemi would stir, and then the boy would find himself launched from the earth riding a high-speed column of earth aimed directly at Kiyoshi. Satori already lifting his hands, preparing for the next step. How quickly could Akemi adapt to his wild tactics? Was he a worthy partner?

He supposed they would find out now. It was as good a time as any.

Re: Meeting the Barbarians [NK, Private]

Post by Akemi on Mon Apr 09, 2018 10:02 am

Kiyoshi gave a rather brief smirk as Akemi said that he wanted more, the man more than likely enjoyed this kind of training. Slowly that finger straightened and the rain of hellfire began once more, with fire and brimstone and debris smashing into and cutting him and he was sent rolling. Yet even before his back had touched the ground, the wound was gone, minus the destroyed shirt. He attempted to leap aside, and would have succeeded had it not been for the distraction of his destroyed shirt, as the flames hit him a second time and caught his body aflame. Even this was immediately snuffed out and the burn from it healed.

Only minutes could have probably passed, thought it seemed as if it were hours. Every time that he tried to dodge, Kiyoshi was on him, eyes trained quite sharply. But this was serving Akemi as well. Each hit and heal session trained his body just a bit more, every explosion hurt a bit less and every time that he was healed it felt as though his skin was a bit tougher. It was tough and grueling training, but at the same time he couldn’t deny that he felt like he was getting stronger.

As he got to his feet again he suddenly felt a presence beside him, and standing beside him was Satori, bouncing that ivory blade at his side again. He said that he was going to cover for Akemi and to see how long it would take before either of them took a hit. Akemi smiled at Satori as the man stood beside him. It would be one of the first times that the two of them had truly stood side by side to do anything like this. Akemi didn’t have the kind of abilities that Satori did, but he’d at least try his hardest to prove himself worthy.

He couldn’t help but blush ever so slightly when Kiyoshi called him the future Kirigakure Champion. Not that it wasn’t true, but he definitely wasn’t used to being called something like that, though it didn’t seem to phase Satori in the slightest. The moment that Kiyoshi launched the blast of fire, Satori formed the snake hand seal. His hand turned dark brown, then he punched the fire his father had shot at them. It exploded causing an obscuring cloud to appear before them.

He heard Satori beside him suddenly say that Akemi was going to be launched, though he wasn’t sure what that meant. He made several hand seals and then slammed a hand into the ground, suddenly the ground beneath Akemi shuddered and he was shot forward riding a column of rock. He gripped into the stone, and suddenly ripped a chunk of the column, tossing it at Kiyoshi as he came flying out, and prepared to pull out another to hit him again if the man evaded the column. Akemi would act as a distraction for Satori’s plan. They could do this, if they worked in nearly perfect coordination.

Satori hadn't given the boy much time to react, but it didn't seem to matter thankfully. The boy adjusted instantly to being hurled at high speeds, and as the chunks of stone were sent flying at Kiyoshi the man shifted his gaze toward the new threat. A barrage of blasts ended the incoming stones, and kicked up even more dust filling the area. While the grin split across Satori's lips, with the cover they would be able to move around far more easily, and with Kiyoshi focused so intently on the other boy that he had a chance.

Dashing forward, his hands shifted between the tiger and ram, before slamming his hand down and causing the stone to burst around the man. Curiously glancing up, the stone sealed him inside-- and Kiyoshi released a blast against the wall, causing a crack but nothing more.

"Hoo', he's learned earth tomb already," he murmured simply from inside before Satori would shift his hands into the boar and ox seals, and immidiately and glance over toward the other boy.

"Jump! Be ready to hold on again!" He stated firmly, though he was certain the last part made no sense, before slamming both hands down into the ground. The result caused the entire training area to slowly shift and churn, including his trapped father, causing the ground to rattle and quake-- and collapsed. Tons of earth and rock smashing into itself, giving way and collapsing to entomb Kiyoshi. The dust and dirt tossed in the air completely nullifying vision, and Satori closed his eyes and quietly waited-- listened as he held the dog seal patiently.

Then, he felt it-- a hand grabbing his ankle. Eyes widening he glanced downward, before being hurled by his leg to flash past Akemi like a bullet. The explosion of force from his body making contact sending even more earth into the air as Kiyoshi casually stepped out of the earth as it were water.

"Rule one in Ninjutsu combat. Never use a nature element against an opponent that also has it, if they're superior to you." Kiyoshi stated this casually as he would straighten, glancing toward the coughing and downed Satori, toward where Akemi was. Only to blink, when he suddenly glanced down-- there was Satori. The one that had been knocked away, exploding into a rock. Satori grinned up at his father, hands gripping his ankles, before hurling him.

The massive man grunted, unable to get proper footing due to his son's action, and was sent flipping forward out of the earth. Not nearly as far as Satori's substitution had been sent, but that was fine. Because within those intricate moments, Satori's hand slammed into the ground once more-- and another pillar of earth would shoot Akemi forward at Kiyoshi like a bullet. The reason he'd told the boy to prepare to hold on. Satori's eyes narrowed, this would be the combination that ended it. He technically had yet to take a hit. If they could land a clean blow on Kiyoshi then it would be their victory.

Kiyoshi utilized the same fire magic again to destroy the stone that Akemi tossed at him creating, a larger cloud of dust. This was perfect, they could use this to hit him easier! If they could hit him, even once, they would win this fight! His determination became more razor sharp by the second. Better still, if Akemi could hold Kiyoshi’s attention for much longer then they would definitely win!

Akemi felt the earth shudder around him again, but this time there was an enormous stone wall that surrounded Kiyoshi. He looked over at Satori who had formed signs and was the one that had created the large earthen tomb that had overtaken Kiyoshi. He gave a smile to Satori, before hearing the young man shout at him to get ready to hold on a second time. Akemi gave a small smile, before nodding. He didn’t have time to stop and think like he normally would have liked.

There was a moment, as Satori slammed both hands into the ground, the whole training area suddenly began to shake and shudder. Then the whole place, specifically the area where Kiyoshi had been exploded and collapsed, though Akemi didn’t even wince, simply waited to see what would happen.

With a start, Akemi turned to his side as Satori was suddenly lifted and tossed like a doll. The other boy went by so fast that Akemi wasn’t entirely certain what exactly had happened, until he looked back. But as he did, he couldn’t help but smile. The Satori that had been thrown, well, it had been an Earth style substitution jutsu, which made a lot of sense, based on what he’d already learned about Satori. Akemi watched as Satori suddenly lifted his father and tossed him.

He wasn’t thrown nearly as far as Satori’s clone had been, but this would more than satiate their tactical needs. Once more Satori’s hands slammed created the intricate signs and slammed into the ground. Akemi crouched a bit, getting ready to go riding on another chunk of rock. The large hunk of rock broke forward, taking Akemi with it. He knew why he’d told Akemi to hold on, and he had been more than ready.

The pillar shot off like a bullet, Akemi standing atop it, more than ready to end this fight with a win for the two of them. Once again he ripped off two separate chunks of the stone pillar, but this time, he had a better idea. He was being carried towards the man at high speeds. He tossed one rock at Kiyoshi, before suddenly utilizing the momentum of the rock to jump forward. With this second rock, they would finish this. A good combination, from the two of them. Teamwork was what would make them the strongest shinobi.

The combination worked perfectly, Satori grinned as his father was still struggling to rise up when Akemi appeared in front of him, the stone flashing forward before the other was brought crashing down. The combination landed true, and for a brief moment, Satori felt himself glow with pride. However, it was quickly shut down when Akemi's rock smashed into the side of Kiyoshi's head-- which in turn dispersed into dust. The clone crumbled into stone, shards scattering and likely nicking Akemi. All while making it clear that Kiyoshi was nowhere in sight.

Satori's mind flashed through the options. There were very few moments his father had time to hide the seals from view to create a clone of the earth. The only point he could think of was when the man had been entombed in the stone. He could have disappeared using the clone to grab him initially, and that meant--

Satori jumped, and right as he did his fathers hand burst from the earth to grab at the air, exactly where his legs had been a moment before. Launching himself toward Akemi, he narrowed his eyes-- they were running out of options, and so, Satori allowed a slow grin to form on his lips as he flew toward Akemi.

"Brace!" The boy yelled simply, and as he flew at Akemi he turned. Shifting his body into a spin, the momentum rotating him through the air like a shuriken and as he passed Akemi-- he grabbed on tight. The force yanked the boy and gritting his teeth he hurled him after two spins, pouring all his momentum into the other boy and sending him flying like a bullet right at his father who was now pushing his way out of the dirt. Only to blink at the human missile flying at him, his hands lifting to form a hand seal.

Akemi wouldn't make it in time. But--

Satori slammed his feet into the ground. His claws dug in, rending the earth and allowing him to stop as blood dripped from his damaged toes before his hands slammed into the earth. The stone burst up, smashing Kiyoshi's hand upward causing him to blink once. It was minor, nothing that would normally hinder him in a fight, he could always just dodge. However, before he could, he felt the grip on his own ankles. Slowly it dawned on him-- why would Satori only make a single clone?

Satori's lips curled into a grin as Kiyoshi kicked, cursing in annoyance as the clone burst into dust beneath him, but now-- Akemi was right in front of him. He was off balance, still half-buried in rocks, his other hand was still returning from being knocked off-course by the stone pillar. Kiyoshi did the mental math, and a slight smirk formed on his lips, he knew he'd been caught. Raika laughed from the sidelines softly, right as whatever attack Akemi decided on landed cleanly. A successful combination attack.

Akemi smiled as the strike with his rock hit home, until suddenly he realized that the Kiyoshi that he thought was below him, was instead a clone! Last time he’d seen something like this happen, Kiyoshi had gone after Satori! He turned back just in time to see that he’d been correct, Kiyoshi had gone right after Satori once utilizing his clone. Even as the stone clone splintered into several different pieces, his feet skittered back along the ground until he came to a stop.

But Satori was one step ahead, and leapt upwards and away from his father, causing him to land near Akemi. He heard the boy beside him shout at Akemi to brace himself, though for what he wasn’t one hundred percent certain. He spun, as he flew towards Akemi, rotating himself like a shuriken and suddenly he grabbed Akemi, obviously what Satori had been talking about to “brace himself”. Akemi found himself grabbed tightly by the arm and pulled, spun around twice and, utilizing all of the momentum that Satori had gathered from the spin and tossed Akemi at his father.

Akemi gritted his teeth as he was sent flying towards Kiyoshi at incredible speeds. But even as he was moving forwards there was a thought in his head: the thought that it didn’t matter that he was flying at Kiyoshi. The man would drop, would move out of the way would evade it in some fashion and then he was going to keep going and probably hit his head against something. He heard Satori’s foot slam into the ground. He dug his claws into the ground and then, stones launched up smashing the man’s hand upwards. Suddenly Satori grabbed his father’s ankles, anchoring his father to the ground.

Akemi watched as Kiyoshi sword, kicked, cursed a few more times as he tried to escape but the clone had pulled the man into the rock, and he’d been knocked off balance by the stone pillar. As Akemi approached he had gone over the variables, and knew for the first time, that they’d gotten him. He could see the smile on Kiyoshi’s face, three Akemi’s were flying at him, just normal clones on his left and right, both of which arrived right before Akemi, both simulated different punches, while the final one, was an uppercut to catch Kiyoshi on the chin, and he couldn’t help but give a slight smile as they finally got him.

He sailed past Kiyoshi, and as he started to land on the ground, he dug his feet into the ground and came to a stop behind the man. He waited to see what would come next.

Success. Sure, it was only a single successful blow. Certainly, they had only managed it together, and as Kiyoshi slowly straightened it was clear the man hadn't even felt any damage from it. But none of that mattered, because Kiyoshi had been earnestly trying to avoid them landing a hit, and they'd still managed it despite that fact. Satori's grin spread over his lips as he slowly straightened-- in time for Kiyoshi's laugh to bark out as he glanced to Raika whom was hiding her mouth to suppress the giggles that had escaped earlier.

"They got you, Kiyo," She stated simply, causing the man to nod once as he glanced between the boys and smirked.

"Well done. Both of you. You're full of holes, and a lot of those moves were risky as hell, but it's still a good combination. Once Akemi managed to get his feet under him properly, a few jutsu under his belt, he'll be a good partner for you I think Satori." Kiyoshi glanced back at his son who was brushing the dirt from his body, offering a slight grin.

"That's high praise coming from the man who told me not to bother working with a Jounin," Satori commented idly, moving toward Akemi and his father casually while the man frowned in annoyance.

"The guy had a stick up his ass. It doesn't matter how skilled you are, if you can't be flexible and adapt to your partner, then you may as well fight on your own." The man jerked his thumb down at Akemi. "He did more than adapt to you, he enhanced your decisions despite his limited arsenal. It's a good start."

Satori grinned, glancing at Akemi before focusing his gaze upward. "If I form a team with him, Hibiki, Riku-chan, and Lulako I think we'd make a pretty potent combination." As he stated this Kiyoshi made a rumbling noise of amusement in his chest.

"Already trying to form combat teams? You're not even a genin yet, pup. Slow down." Satori blinked and then smiled slightly.

"You're right, sorry. When we graduate I'll think about it more seriously." With that, the boy turned and focused on Akemi, offering the boy his hand. "Well done. Sorry I kind of tossed you around like bait alot, but it worked well." With the same grin decorating his features, he glanced over his shoulder at Kiyoshi.

"Do you think he'll be alright on the hunt, father?" He inquired simply, causing Kiyoshi to pause and glance upward in thought.

"That's little to do with skill, and all on mentality. We'll find out how open-minded he really is, I suppose." With that, Kiyoshi would stretch, before turning and moving toward the door. "If he's still interested after learning more about us, then we'll train any time. It's refreshing seeing a kid beside you worth something when it comes to outright brawling." As he stated this he would offer a simple wave, before exiting the training room. Raika would smile, stepping forward and mending Satori's torn feet, as well as any damage that Akemi may also have, before straightening as well.

"I hope to see you after the hunt, Akemi. Riku-chan is nice, but a crush isn't the same as a good friend." With this, she waved and turned-- heading toward the door. Satori didn't even blink at the comment of her being his "crush" and simply turned toward Akemi as he placed his hands on his hips.

"There's an hour before the hunt. How about we clean up and get you some weapons, and go over a few things before it start?" With this, he would jerk a thumb over his shoulder, leading the way to get the boy prepared for what was to come. Satori was curious just how far the boy was really willing to go for his search for knowledge and respect of different clans and cultures.

They’d hit him!! Yeah, it was only once, they could only do it together and it was more than clear that Akemi’s little hit did literally no damage, but that wasn’t the point. The whole time Kiyoshi had been doing his hardest to avoid either of them landing a hit, but they still had. Akemi smiled right alongside Satori as he rose to his feet. He couldn’t help but smile about what they’d accomplished, especially as Kiyoshi himself began laughing. As Kiyoshi started to speak with them, despite the way that he said they were full of holes and their moves were pretty risky, he finally paid them a compliment, a decent compliment at that. He couldn’t deny that Kiyoshi was right though, Akemi did need to learn some actual jutsu.

Slowly he listened as Satori talked about a team with him, Satori, someone named Hibiki, Riku and someone named Lulako that they’d be a rather formidable team. While Kiyoshi spoke, Akemi was a little unsure. They weren’t genin, that much was true, but some of these people, Akemi had yet to meet, though Lulako he’d heard some rumors about. He felt, in some ways, a bit concerned about some of these people. He’d met Riku and Satori now, so he knew what both were mostly capable of. But Hibiki? Lulako? Both of these were unknown variables and gave Akemi the slightest bit of pause.

Satori turned to him with a hand and gave him some further hearty words of praise and apologized for using him as bait.

“Don’t worry about it,” he said with an enthusiastic smile. “The important thing was that the gambit worked, we got a hit and we won! Once I learn some actual jutsu I should be able to be even more combat effective!”

Kiyoshi stretched and started moving towards the door, before waving and exiting the training room. Raika smiled before healing Satori’s feet and Akemi’s arms. Raika, Satori’s mom, stated that she hoped to see him after the hunt, said that a crush isn’t the same as a friend, though he had no idea what the word crush meant. He smiled back, before looking over at Satori. There was an hour still until the hunt, and Satori talked about getting cleaned up and grabbing some weapons and going over some things before it all began.

With a big smile, he looked over at Satori. “Getting cleaned up would be absolutely wonderful! Weapons and some intel on all of this would definitely be great! This was hard, but it was definitely a lot of fun! I’m looking forward to this hunt, were I to be honest. But Satori, I’ve got a question: What’s a crush?”
